Since the 1960s people all over the world have wondered if Mars Colonization is possible. Colonizing Mars is a very popular topic even today. If the colonization of Mars is possible it will change human life forever. In fact, there are many organizations trying to reach Mars in the near future. One of them is Mars One where they are planning on landing on Mars in 2025 (pretty cool huh?). But there are quite a few problems with this idea. A couple of those problems are water sources, food supply, terraformation, and the limitations with space suits. If humans can overcome these issues humanity will be changed forever.
The first issue: water supply. This is kind of a big issue seems how humans must have water to survive and Mars doesn’t have any water on the surface presently. Although it is proven that water was at one point on Mars. Mars One plans on baking water out of the red soil because the soil has ice in it. Probably the biggest issue is that the technology will not be ready by 2025 which will just push the landing date back.
Another large issue with colonizing Mars is the food supply. Just like with water humans must have food to live and currently, there isn’t any food on Mars. …show more content…
Mars colonists with have to be wearing space suits nearly one hundred percent of the time. What happens if one malfunctions or breaks? Well, thousands of dollars will be wasted and the suit will need to be fixed. The Colony will need several extra suits in case of breaks and malfunctions. The colony will eventually run out of space suits (or humans) and need to have more shipped to them which will cost a ridiculous amount of money seems how it “...costs about $43,180 per pound to send things up...” (Kramer and Mosher). That’s a lot of money, so if the Mars colonists can find a way to produce spacesuits on Mars using materials found on Mars they could solve this
