Columbus Persuasive Speech
Establishing a colony on mars is not an option, it is a necessity. Clearly, the next logical step for our race is to expand out into the stars, into the unknown. The Human race has to put more effort and resources into space exploration. It is in our deep underlying nature to explore, we are a curious animal that wants to discover all it can, we just need the tools to do so. We need the next Christopher Columbus, we need someone with the drive and will to explore the unknown.
Resources on earth are dwindling and we need to do something about it

We can solve world issues like world hunger and overcrowding by growing crops and moving people out into our solar system. We can bring a whole new industry of trade. We can build infrastructure and technologies with these resources that are literally beyond imagination. Millions of job opportunities can be opened up, from a space janitor to a commander of a spacecraft. Anyone's dreams and aspirations can really come true. We can create a solid backup of the human race on a different planet. We have been coming up with plans to go to mars for 65 years. The plans are around. The research has been done. We can do it, we just need to go. We can send all the rovers and drones that we want to the red planet. But what a rover can do in its entire lifetime can be accomplished by a human in one single day. Rovers have only scratched the surface humans can explore so much more. To go to mars it takes all of us. Every race, religion, country, and creed. We unite to achieve anything we can unite together and reach mars. Going to the moon united us all and inspired a generation at a time of worry and anguish. Going to mars will do the same. Impossible is a word humans use far too often, Mars is certainly not

With all of the advancements in technology as evidenced by the many unmanned missions to other planets, minor planets, and moons in our solar system, why haven't we sent men back to the moon? If we ever plan to set foot on Mars, then we better get back into the habit of sending men to the moon; therefore, if we are unsure of that feat, then a manned mission to Mars is even more perilous a journey.…

Even if we discontinue the funding of NASA we could still have some control over space in some way by setting laws so the states could have some control over the private companies that would fund themselves. If we keep funding NASA or set some control over the private companies we may be able to make some profit off of the space program and besides, would you rather live in space or on another planet, than stay on earth. And in any way the earth is going to inevitably die anyway so basically the only way to survive is to leave this planet and go to an entirely different solar system and find a faster source of space travel like a “Warp Drive” or a “Black Hole Engine” to…

Do the benefits outweigh the cost for funding exploration and expansion into space? From the perspective of a sociologist, whose job it is include the origins, development, organization, networks, and institutions to study social behavior or society, funding NASA would be a wise choice because we could have space colonies creating many benefits for society and people. The article “Food, Leisure, And Social Life In Space Colonies” by Tom Marotta, a diplomat and city planner, made this position clear by presenting the significance of space exploration in today’s world to the future of our world. First, people want to know how to survive on the space colony. Space colonies are settlements in space that can vary in size and contain normal environments such as forests, farms, lakes, and rivers. They are just like a normal community but just in space. There are houses, jobs, and places where people can work on the colonies.…

All four of the astronauts that could go and try to colonize Mars on the Mars One Mission cannot ever come back to Earth. The people would have to leave everyone and everywhere they have ever known to venture out to a place where no one has ever been before. “It’s a fixer-upper of a planet, but we could make it work.” [Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX] The idea of colonizing Mars seems pretty far away, but consider Apollo. No one thought it could happen except NASA, and it seems like that is true for Mars One. Mars One could help humans more than just unhinging that need to explore and find new things. It is unarguable that there are problems here on Earth. From terrorism to health care and the economy, America and the rest of the world have problems that need to be solved. While there are problems here on Earth, the United States should continue to fund space exploration because it contributes to national security, stimulates the economy and leads to further technological advancements. America cannot afford to stop exploring space in an effort to solve other problems. Instead the U.S. needs to take a look at how space exploration is already working to solve those other problems.…

Many scientists believe that humanity has a date with extinction if we do not try to expand our horizons. It took about 4.5 billion years for mankind to evolve into the intelligent beings we see when we look in the mirror. For this very reason scientists believe that mankind would make a grave mistake if we do not put forth a dedicated effort in saving humanity. There are many concerns that are facing mankind in attempting to colonize space and other planets. However the dangers of not colonizing space and other planets outweigh the attempt remarkably. Mankind has proven time and time again that if we come together as one, we can accomplish anything.…

If people could live on Mars there would be more space for our population, Earth is overpopulated and crowded anyways, with everyone having kids, and our population is greatly increasing more and more. Besides, Think about it, how cool would it be to live on mars? What if aliens did exist and we had an opportunity to see one with our own eyes? They could exist and be mean scary aliens that shoot lasers out of their eyes that penetrate your skin, or they could be sweet, nice, interesting aliens. Then again we don’t know if they exist or not. Getting to experience what life is like on Mars would be pretty neat if you ask…

. . children of this universe. Not just Earth, or Mars, or this System, but the whole grand fireworks. And if we are interested in Mars at all, it is only because we wonder over our past and worry terribly about our possible future.” are the words spoken by Ray Bradbury, 'Mars and the Mind of Man,' 1973 I feel that he is suggesting that we should not look back on our past but the future in exploring the entire universe for it is ours why shelter ourselves away from it. The individuals colonizing Mars can see themselves living out what Bradbury has spoken, they are not settling. This project would have to go down as the greatest adventure in human history. One might wonder why risk humans to venture on this new mission well according to Joel S. Levine1 and Rudy Schild “Humans are unique scientific explorers and observers, humans…
