RFID badges are given to students grades K-12 and located on the badge is the RFID technology. The tag is only activated when taking attendance. There is a reader device located on the door and once a child enters the room they are marked present for that day. It can also be used as a safety measure to track exactly where on campus a student is.…
An old saying about technology being in the right hands can be a beautiful thing is true, but allow it to get in the wrong hands, the entire world could be in danger. In the end of the movie Resident Evil: Extinction, Alice found someone had put a tracking chip inside of her body. Instead of using it to help with the wellbeing of her health in a zombie apocalypse, it was used to track her every move so the Umbrella Corporation could destroy her. I do agree that RFID chips are a good thing, but not if there are cruel intention behind it. Hopefully, the creators will do the right thing and not let evil win. Instead they can use to help with medical enhancements, and allowing better time management.…
As a former public school teacher and administrator, I am typically not in favor of anything that might cause a distraction to the pedagogical process. Over the past several years we have seen the rise of many gadgets that have done just that. For me, the most intrusive apparatus arriving in the classroom that continues to vex educators has been the smartphone. Teachers are forced to constantly perform the “turn that off,” “log off that,” “put that away,” dance everyday resulting in the loss of valuable learning time. Now, we have the fidget spinner.…
The FDA already requires medical device companies to be able to identify each of the units it produces and distributes by a serial number. These medical device companies need better control of the implants on a consignment basis with hospitals, since returns can occur more than 50 percent of the time. With the new RFID technology that improvement in visibility into returns could possibly enable personnel to quickly and more efficiently locate a crucial piece of equipment and immediately determine its capabilities for use. In the event that a catastrophic error should arise, they would be completely traceable from the manufacturer to the consumer, and the preventative maintenance on equipment could be more accurately tracked. With the RFID tags with read/write capabilities can be used to detect seal integrity for the containers and individual packages. The tag would be able to record the time and duration of the seal loss, allowing even problems that occur in mid-shipment to be detected. For example, since Hospitals currently have to track the radioactive isotopes throughout the facility from storage to transport and from the administration to disposal. These RFID tags and readers would be able to automate these tasks. (Reiner & Sullivan,…

Using the RFID chips in school is a bad idea because parents don't like that their kids are being used as guinea pigs to test the chip. They don't like that their kids privacy are being invaded. According to Kim Zetter (American Freelance journalist), "Schools superintendents struck a deal with a local maker of the technology last year to test the system to track a attendance and weed out trespassers." This quote shows that these students are being tested like guinea pigs which shouldn't be their job to test these chips. They should have some adults test these chips. Having students test the RFID chip should not be allowed because parents do not like their kids testing the chip.…

RFID chips are used in many industry, these chips where first used in bar codes to recognize merchandise and products. The manufacturings of vehicles were implanted with RFID chips for tracking of the status and security purposes. RFID chips are well known to be in livestock and pets. The purpose of putting these chips into pets and livestock is that fact that you will be able to track their location when they get lost. For example, if your cattle were to ever run away from home and you was unable to find them, with a RFID chip implanted into them, you can easily get a RFID scanner to search for the missing cattle. When people lose their pets…

Micro chipping should not be an option whatsoever, with anyone or anything. It will be up to the person itself if he or she wants to be micro chipped. As the article states most people do not want to get micro chipped because they believe they will lose their identity or will feel that they have lost their privacy. There may be benefits to the use of microchips but the argument is that once one agrees to using these micro chips and there is a great outcome, then the rest of the people would need to wear the micro chips as well. The people fear the government the most when it comes to getting micro chipped and I believe that we should hear the people out since we want to keep them safe, and give them as much as they ask. Keeping them safe does…
In the film Difret 2014 by Zeresenay Mehari and the reading “A Small Place” by Jamaica Kincaid, both the film and the reading portray either patriarchy or colonialism. This paper outlines that although individuals may think that there is a relationship between patriarchy and colonialism that there isn’t. Illustrations and meanings will be provided on to further explain this, as well as how colonialism has affected the indigenous world for worse, and lastly, the treatment of women. In the film Difret, patriarchy is depicted for the reason that Meza who is a female lawyer who is representing Hirut, is standing up to the man in power. In the system of the society the men hold the power and the women are excluded from it. In the reading,…
I strongly agree that cell phones should be allowed on school grounds. I have two reasons to support my opinion. First having cell phones can be a helpful learning tool to teachers. Max Gold supported my opinion. He stated “By using texting as a positive tool instead of a means of distraction educators can now have student’s text in the answers that the students have questions on. Also Greenberg High School stated “The Students who have a smart phone can use various applications that are designed to assist in learning and designed just for students. Many of these smart phones have programs that are similar to what is found in a laptop or desktop computer. Being able to quickly look up facts on the internet is possible on many phones. If a student needs assistance with class work and does not have access to a computer, a smart phone can be used in a snap. Also most private schools allow cell phones. In private schools the prevailing view is that cell phones are here to stay. They are an essential line of communication between frantically busy parents and their children. As a result, most private schools allow cell phones on their premises with the understanding that phones must be turned off during class and only used under certain conditions and in specified places. Most schools have very specific guidelines written into their handbooks and acceptable use policy manuals. All students agree to abide by those rules both while on the school premises and also while under the school's jurisdiction when off campus. second opinion is parents can keep in contact with their children. Maya Cohen supported this reason by stating that “Cell phones create a convenience that was previously unavailable. With cell phones, you…

In schools certain things are used to educate students. Wifi is also needed to complete homework or classwork. Wifi also gives us access to try new educational games or educational practices. If there was no wifi it would be really hard to study, you would have to write everything out and teachers would have no smart boards or computers. It would be really hard for students to study and teachers to…
