Killing civilians during war is a serious violation (The United States war crimes). The bombing of Hiroshima was an unreasonable act that took the lives of thousands of innocent people, the majority being civilians. This act was repulsive, especially because it was a governmental order.
People may argue that bombing the city was totally acceptable because Japan had bombed Perl Harbor, Hawaii. But according to the statistics of the deaths in both cities, only 2403 people were killed in the bombing of Perl Harbor and more than 100,000 people died in the bombing of Hiroshima; clearly, the difference is abundant. The dropping of the atomic bomb was an unjustified action of the American government.
As stated in the article (The Day in History) the first reason for the bombing of Hiroshima was to bring the war with Japan to an end and spare American lives. If this was the case, then the US should have bombed a military base to enforce further destruction and fighting; however, it didn’t. The US should have thought twice before making such a consequential decision. The US may claim that it was the only way to end the bloody war and there was no choice left. If dropping an atomic bomb on Hiroshima was for the sake of ending the war, than bombing a military Headquarter would have been a more rational decision.
