I do not support this side because you shouldn’t modify your babies to make them how you would like them, you should accept them the way they are. Tanya Lewis, who is a specialist in biology and staff writer at Live Science, said that “germline editing that leads to the creation of designer babies, is not required to live normally ” (Lewis). She also made a good point about DNA modification that says “DNA that has been carefully selected to enhance their appearance, intelligence, or other traits that are not medically necessary” (Lewis). Another reason that people are against “designer babies” is because they think that people will try to improve races in humans. I agree with all of the people who are going against designing babies because they make very solid points and all of the points make sense.
After researching and looking for different reasons as to why or why not they support the CRISPR system I decided that I only agree to the treatment side rather than the designer baby side. CRISPR gene therapy for people with diseases will be very useful. It will help people live a longer, and happier
