‘THE QUALITIES OF A GOOD FRIEND’
A very good morning to our principal, teachers and fellow friends, in conjunction with English week, I would like to deliver my speech entitled ‘The qualities of a good friend’. I am very sure we all have friends. For your information, a friend is a person you know well and like. As we are growing up, we all need friends as a saying goes, no man is an island.
There are many qualities of a good friend. A good friend should be honest and open towards their friends. They should share their feelings, interests, fears or even disappointments with their friends. Besides, a friend must always be honest and not be afraid to open up. Friends should be able to talk to each other freely to form close ties.
The second quality of a good friend is being supportive. A good friend will support you during your ups and downs. A friend is a shoulder to cry on, during your happy or sad times. A good friend will be by your side when you need. For example, a good friend will not run away during your troubled times but they will be with you and give encouragement and motivation to you. As the saying goes, a friend in need is a friend indeed.
Besides, a friend steers you away from negative influence as bullying, smoking and taking drugs. A good friend also will not be afraid to tell you when you are wrong. Instead, she stands up to prevent you from negative influence. When a friend advises you, she always wants the best for you by not involving you in unhealthy activities.
Another quality of a good friend should have is does not keep any score. A good friend should be sincere and also be able to give and take. A friend is not calculative and ready to help us anytime. Besides a friend is a loving companion at all times. True friends are the ones who do not envy when we accomplish our goals. The most crucial thing about friendship is not being resentful.
