his point of view. In this point of view, the narrator establishes that his main purpose was to inform people on why Teddy Roosevelt was the greatest president ever known in the history of America, and to also find out historical information concerning Teddy Roosevelt. Such information includes: his background, his childhood live, his years attending the Harvard University, his marriages, types of friends he associated with, his entrance into politics, what he contributed to America when he was a President and many more. Morris, Edmund began as an advertising copywriter in the United Kingdom before migrating to the United States for a better life. He is a talented skilled writer, in which he used his talent to write other historical books such as: Dutch: A Memoir of Reagan in 1999, Theodore Rex in 2001, and Beethoven: The Universal Composer in 2005 and last but not least The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt in 1979. He is well known for his historical books which are known in our society. The author’s background is not really detailed or mentioned in the book, it only goes straight to the story. The book is calculated to be twenty-eight years of age.
I strongly believe that the age of the book doesn’t really affect the book, because of its important contents the book provides. I think the author’s audience would be scholars or students. He wants his viewers to be aware of educated facts which are also taught in the classrooms of American History students. He clearly states that his main purpose for writing the book was to focus on Teddy Roosevelt’s personal life, and to let his audience know the true life of Theodore Roosevelt. His sources were from interviews with members of the Roosevelt’s family and with various authors like, Mrs. Ethel Derby and Mr. Archibald Roosevelt. These interviews he had with the individuals listed provided some of the original documents in the book. Not only did he get his sources from these authors but he also took majority of his sources from face-to-face interviews by Roosevelt’s immediate family members. I strongly believe in the author’s argument, because he uses strong points to back up his thesis, by doing so he emphasizes on Roosevelt’s credentials before and during his Presidency. Overall the book wasn’t as long as I thought it would be. At first I pictured it as being a big thick book with a lot of big words and grammar in it, but I was wrong, rather it was a medium size book that looked durable to read. It contained both simplistic and complex words. The simplistic words were plain and simple, the complex words were …show more content…
plain, but not that hard to understand. There were also foreign words he used also know as big grammar words, which he didn’t define, but as I kept on reading I understood the meaning of those particular words descried. The author conveyed his ideas and feelings about Roosevelt. The author is opinionating because he gives strong evidence that backs up his writing, he doesn’t just say one thing about the person he is writing on without providing evidence so we could justify that he is documenting a true story and not a fake one. This book was very interesting, because I not only learned about the history of President Theodore Roosevelt’s life, but also had respect for what he went through for America, and how others treated him with respect and dignity. The author does a very good job in discussing the personal and historical aspects of Roosevelt’s struggle to pursue his goal. I do believe that he is an intelligent writer, who needs no form of improvements on his works. The book is based on the biography of Theodore Roosevelt’s life from the day he was born to all accomplishing presidency.
Theodore Roosevelt was born in October, 27, 1858 in NY City. He was a very hard working man that was raised in the farm life, that’s why he loves farming according to the author. At age eighteen he schooled at Harvard University in 1876 for four years before leaving to Germany to continue his studies for another year. The narrator wanted Teddy’s voice to speak through his writing, in which he was able to express himself on public affair issues during his Presidency and so on. During the war he would make good decisions for Americans to use on their daily lives until it was over. The author talked about political things such as, how he was appointed United States Civil Service Commission in 1888, how he was elected for the NY City police commission in 1895, afterwards he reentered NY state politics and was elected governor of in 1898. Theses and many more were is accomplishments and goals, after all his goals were achieved, his death occurred on January 6, 1919. I would say the book was quite interesting to read. I think it was pleasant and over whelming, and I highly recommend this book to my family, friends, and even my professors. I think they will acknowledge it a lot once they are done with the
book.
