African American men are looked down upon due to the stereotype society has placed upon them. We are being prejudged before even get the chance to show who we truly are. For example, Trayvon Martin was a teen who was killed by a neighborhood watch officer due to his suspicious look in which he was only walking to the store buy his siblings a snack. Was he suspicious just because he was black? If he was white would he have been shot and killed? Also, Michael Brown another African American male shot and killed by a white police officer. In his attempt to surrender the police officer fired at Brown 12 times. Personally, I feel the situation was definitely avoidable and driven by racial hate. Racism doesn't allow African American men to thrive due to the simple fact that other races are afraid of the power of a black successful man. With that being said, racist people do anything to belittle the black man's image. Americans with no hope due to the problems the world brings today due to skin color. As I was listen to my history lessons, I realize many things that happen in the world is just not right. I know that all people do not have equal rights or it is not in their favor due to the many counts of incidences reported on the news and radio. I’m hoping as an individual in America it will change and that everybody would see people for who they are and not because of their skin color or their background. People need to realize that we are the same just as any other
