The Role Of Stakeholders In Health Care

Hospitals are vital segment in health care and are under constant pressure to deliver high quality care and be cost effective. Strategic planning involves participation of many stakeholders with the goal of trying to meet or exceed expectations of the stated objective. The planning process involves three elements: preparing and a strategy, carry out the strategy, and the control and assessment phase. The purpose of the evaluation stage is to calculate the difference between anticipated expectations and realized results then make needed modifications (Meyer, Clapham, & Lemke, 2014). Hospitals face numerous challenges in planning for a wide variety issues including financial, human resources, economic management and the threat of natural or man-made disasters.
The hospital’s internal stakeholders consist of both management and nonmanagement employees. Top managers include the chief executive officer, chief financial officer, medical directors, clinical functional managers, and product line mangers. Nonmanagemnt workers consist of professionals such as doctors and nurses, paraprofessionals and supports personnel. These stakeholders have an influence on all health care management issues and are responsible for planning for scenarios that can threaten or support the hospitals
