The Saint I have chosen for my conformation is Saint Anne
The Saint I have chosen for my conformation is Saint Anne. Saint Anne is the patron saint of women in labor, Canada, Cabinetmakers, and Housewives. Saint Anne is the mother of the Virgin Mary and grandmother of Jesus. Saint Anne was born in Bethlehem and married Joachim. Anne and Joachim were married for twenty years and still had no children. Joachim prayed to God and fasted and soon after an angel came and declared that they would have a child. They were told to name the child Mary, and she would be dedicated to God. Anne has been known as an advocate of healing. She has also been known as an advocate for the poor, for marriages and for family. Her feast day is July twenty six and it is celebrated as the feast of Saint Ann and Joachim.

As I began researching patron saints of nursing, children, babies, and women in labor I came across Saint Anne. Saint Anne really stood out to me because she was the patron saint of women in labor and because of her caring nature, love and passion for Mary. Saint Anne is very important to me because I love children and in two years when I go to college I want to become a neonatal nurse. I know I am going to need to a lot of guidance from my family but I now have the guidance of Saint Anne through my prayers. Confirmation is also a chance to renew our Baptismal Vows. Making my conformation will allow me to make good decisions later in life. It will also help me fully understand the teachings of the church.

A sacrament is an "outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace". Confirmation is furthering our commitment to God with your own heart, mind and soul. I believe that being confirmed allows to become an adult member of the Catholic Church. Confirmation is the strengthening of the Christian faith and the full communion with the church. Confirmation gives us an understanding of the Holy Spirit and helps us spread the faith by word and action as followers of Christ. Confirmation allows us to become connected to the

    Blessed Mary Mackillop is one of Australia’s most remarkable and inspiring women. It was clearly evident that people recognised that she was a holy person and from that time onwards, the faithful has never ceased to regard her as a saint. Therefore, her official declaration as a saint influenced others to believe in her as the first Australian saint. The Sisters are inspired by the devotion and pure love that Mary demonstrated her commitment to improving the lives of those less fortunate such as building providences for the poor in South Australia . Mary’s beatification involved a process that included an examination of her writings, stories, and testimony concerning her reputation for holiness. After this act, permission was given to formally introduce the cause for beatification in May 1973, whereby she received the title ‘Servant of God’. After the examination of 2 Decrees in 1993 and 1992, Mary now had the title ‘ Venerable’. The recommendation was made to the Holy Father who then decided her beatification in Sydney on January 19, 1995. In April 2008, the documents pertaining to a remarkable cure of a woman with inoperable cancer were delivered under seal to the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. After close scrutiny of this case and examination by the Medical Board and theologians, the cardinals and bishops recommended to Pope Benedict XVI that this was a miracle. He approved on December 19, 2009, and Mary’s canonisation occurred…

    St. Clare was born on July 16, 1194 and died on August 11, 1253. She was the daughter of a count and countess. She heard St. Francis preach in the streets of Assisi and told him of her desire to give herself to God. They grew to be close friends. On Palm Sunday in the year 1212 the bishop of Assisi presented a palm to this noble maid of eighteen who was beautifully garbed. That same night she left her castle with one acquaintance and went to the church of Our Lady of the Angels, where she met Francis and his Brothers. At the altar of Our Lady, Francis cut off her hair and Clare gave her life to Christ. In an old house outside Assisi she began her Order of the Poor Clares. Later, her sister and mother and other noble ladies joined her. They lived a life of prayer, silence and fasting. One day, enemies of the Church were about to attack the convent. The saint had the Blessed Sacrament placed in a monstrance above the gate of the convent and, kneeling before it, she prayed for help. Abruptly the enemy fled. During her illness of 28 years the Holy Eucharist was her strength. She died in 1253. She is the patroness of, eye disease, goldsmiths, laundry, embroiderers, gilders, good weather, needle workers, Santa Clara Pueblo, telephones, telegraphs, and television. Pope Pius XII selected her as the patron saint of television in 1958, on the basis that when she was too ill to be present at Mass, she had reportedly been able to see and hear it on the wall of her room. Her remains were entombed at the chapel of San Giorgio while a church to hold her remains was being built. On August 15, 1255, Pope Alexander IV canonized Clare as Saint Clare of Assisi. Construction of the Basilica of Saint Clare was completed in 1260, and on October 3 of that year Clare's remains were moved to the recently completed basilica where they were buried under the high altar.
