The Secret Lion By Alberto Ros
“The Secret Lion” by Alberto Alvaro Ros is a short story about two preteens who are growing up and moving into junior high school. Two major conflicts explored in the story that resonated with me were the loss of innocence that comes with growing up, and how children are often overlooked and silenced by authority figures.

A line that stood out to me while reading was “...if we were going to take this and show it to anybody, this discovery, this best thing, was going to be taken away from us” (Ros). This quote illustrates how children's creativity and discoveries are often controlled by authority figures. Although these limitations can sometimes protect children, they can also interfere with the discovery and exploration required for them to

It allows the child to be able to express themselves and to be able to think about new ideas and encourages the child to try new ideas and things.…

The short stories “The Scarlet Ibis” by James Hurst and “My Brother’s Keeper” by Jay Bennet are both realistic examples of family dynamics and how they can affect the way siblings treat each other. “The Scarlet Ibis” demonstrates how older siblings tend to feel the need to assist or help their younger siblings in things they cannot do, often leaving the younger siblings codependent on the older siblings for everything. In comparison, “My Brother’s Keeper” demonstrates how trauma can lead to siblings leaching to each other and becoming reliant, more often one more than the other. Even when two people are not siblings but are close, one person can become codependent on the other, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck is the prime example of this.…

The article from the writer about the overprotected kid is interesting. It appeals to many different spheres of influence of a kids mind and rational decisions. The history and evolution of the typical kids mind was also used. “Kids once took special pride in “knowing how to get places” alone, and in finding shortcuts adults normally wouldn’t use, the writer said. This gives the reader elaborate stages of a kids childhood.…

Death of the Ibis Death is a sad mournful thing, but many short story's use death as one of the story's plot points like the short story "The Scarlet Ibis" by James Hurst. Hurst uses death and sadness to give this story its realism and not have it be a flat boring story. "The last graveyard flowers were blooming, and their smell drifted across the cotton field and through every room of our house, speaking softly the names of our dead. " My ideas are why hurst worded it this way is because he wanted it to feel sad and unpleasant, but most of all depressing.…

Anderson draws from her own experience, and discusses how children aren’t granted enough options to explore their creativity, and don’t do well in some areas of school simply because their talents and interests don’t lie in those areas. Learning isn’t about learning anymore, it’s about passing the class. Anderson claims “students learn to rely on marks and seek approval from teachers to know if what they have produced is acceptable.” Evaluating students limits their creativity and…

“Sparrow” by Norman MacCaig has a strong social issue of the class system and how the classes differ. MacCaig talks about the issue of the class system in relation to survival of to fittest. The poem itself talks about birds like sparrows and other birds in general, which are metaphors for people. Introduction: All major industries create wealth but if there is one industry that plays a unique role by way of both creation of wealth through a wide range of manufacturing activities and also by way of preserving the wealth or value created by many, many other industries, it is packaging. Apart from the huge value addition and employment involved in these activities, packaging has served the Indian economy by helping preservation of the quality and lengthening the shelf life of innumerable products - ranging from milk and biscuits, to drugs and medicines, processed and semi-processed foods, fruits and vegetables, edible oils, electronic goods etc., besides domestic appliances and industrial machinery and other hardware needing transportation. With water becoming a consumer product, polymer material-based bottles are becoming a universal presence. Packaging, as distinct from mere “packing”, plays it‟s most visible and catalytic role in a modern economy with the widespread adoption of branding of products and development of consumer preferences. To the extent that any consumer product is packaged in a manner that meets the criteria of safety, convenience and attractiveness, it gains market share. In the aggregate, packaging as a sectoral activity boosts consumption and economic growth.
