The soldiers lacked various resources such as clothing and food. In Document B it Dr. Albigence Waldo states, "There comes a Soldier, his bare feet are seen thro' his worn out Shoes, his legs nearly naked from the tatter'd remains of an only pair of stocks". In other words, these soldiers wore their clothing to the point they worn out for being so used. Food was also scarce, and there were many mouths to feed. Around the camp soldiers cry ot "No Meat! No Meat!" (Document B. The cry out for meat shows how bad the group was lacking food. Luckily five Congressmen stayed for several weeks and helped out obtaining more clothing and food for them(Document B). However, sometimes help may not be within your reach.…
It was a battle between the Colonist and the British Empire but the question is who is correct and who is in the wrong and what caused the great revolution . Most people thought that the British king was there to serve the people not the people were there to serve the king (doc 1). The king in Britain disagreed and made them serve him and the colonists were not happy with that.…
It’s advisable to have a few uniforms so they can be washed regularly to avoid the build up of body odors also so it doesn’t get too worn. Your uniform should be a good length so that you’re comfortable to move around (it’s suggested to get a size bigger), and should always be cleans and pressed. Your shoes should…
Being a member of the US military is considered one of the most, if not the most, patriotic titles a person can have in connection with this country. Serving in the military allows one to develop a sense of integrity and direction that reflects the American spirit. You, dear reader, may have family and/or friends who actively serve or have served as US military personnel. Maybe you are or have been an active member yourself. If so, your service is admired.…
Leaping into our high school marching band’s “rebuilding season” with a dozen other novice classmates, I approached with a hesitant enthusiasm. Though I instantly gained a great passion for marching and competing, my inexperience, when combined with the similar inexperience of my peers, would lead to last place finishes at nearly every tournament. However, the failure of this unit did not cause me to become discouraged or resigned, but rather led me to take ownership for areas I needed to personally correct and improve upon, to recommit and develop diligence for pursuits I truly valued, and to seek to help strengthen and build up every other individual member. Especially for a marching unit, every member counts, and no one may be left behind,…

Last year, our game was strong; the band obtained a rating of two at state finals in Brunswick, Ohio. It was marching season, not football season. With eight incredibly talented seniors on various instruments, our season was substantial and awe-inspiring. Those seniors took charge and impelled us to victory. Also, the music was an upper level composition wrote for experienced hands and mouths. The Shenandoah Marching Band only had four Jr. High members in its midsts: Cameron Kolbank, Lorrin Wiley, Corey Feldner, and Deanna Mick. Although, after losing so many seniors last marching season, the band has been forced to call upon eight Jr. High band members to engage at the high school level in the marching program. This year with the new additions,…
If you are really interested in the army or things like that, you probably like to wear camouflage clothing. If you want to wear those styles of clothes to school you can't because the teachers and the principals will think it is gang related, and you would get in trouble for wearing those clothes. When you want to wear two different colors of shoe laces because it matches your clothes, or you think it looks cool, it will be considered gang related. As long as you are there to learn you should be able to wear an earring or even a cap as long as you are not messing with it non stop. Students should be able to wear anything they…
When I first started marching band during the summer going into my freshman year, I didn’t expect to fall in love with it. Freshmen percussionists at my high school are required to be in the front ensemble their first year and couldn’t be in the drumline until their sophomore year. Knowing this, I thought of the upcoming marching season as just a waste of time because I wanted to be in the drumline and I would never want to stay in the front ensemble beyond my freshmen year. Although I wasn’t expecting much, I was still hopeful going into the first day of summer band.…
Over time, lifestyles change, which leads to other aspects changing also. For example, music changes, language changes, even the clothing today’s generation is seen in does not match up with the clothes that previous generations wore. This is because clothing styles and developments in clothing creations are closely associated.…
Environment racism a topic that a lot of people don’t talk about. It’s also something that affect many people around the world: whites, people of color, rich, but mainly the poor. In 1993, Will Rogers Middle School in California’s Long Beach County School District began discussing the idea of a school-wide uniform policy. That fall, Will Rogers became the first school in Long Beach County to have a mandatory uniform policy. Other schools in the district soon followed drawing national attention, including a personal visit from then President Clinton. Recent memories of school shootings around the nation caused President Clinton to urge other school districts to move to uniforms in his 1996 State of the Union Address. This started a seemingly endless debate over school uniforms in public schools. In order to be legal, every uniform policy has to have an option to not participate. Students that “opt-out” attend other schools that do not have uniform policies.…
The introduction of school uniforms in the public school system would make a positive change for the students and the entire school. A common argument today is whether uniforms should be introduced to the school system. I agree for many different reasons. The main reasons for having uniforms are; it would prevent violence, parents will save money, and students will be less distracted. Even though some students see it as their self-expression will be taken away from them. Their are different type of ways to express yourself.…
