One of my most memorable high school experiences took place in a football stadium an hour away from home in the middle of a corn field. It was my Junior year, a Friday night in the middle of October, and in true Ohio fashion, it was raining and barely above freezing. Members of the Spirit Spartans that year convinced my friends and I to attend. The game was incredible; it was back and forth all four quarters and all tied up with thirty seconds left in the game. With the clock running down, a Turpin receiver made a diving one-handed catch in the endzone to win the game. The stands went crazy and that excitement lasted all season, as the Spartans were undefeated in the regular season and lost only to future state champions in the tournament. I wholeheartedly believe that a vital part to the team's success was the student encouragement at games. As an athlete myself, a crowd of spirited classmates at a game can really ignite the team. …show more content…
