This quote speaks volumes- we are making more money as a whole because of immigrants and it will eventually create new and more job opportunities. According to my source, “Statewide, Hispanics account for $109.7 billion, or 22 percent, of the spending power. They also pay $35 billion in federal, state, and local taxes; $17.9 billion of that amount goes to Social Security and $4.2 billion goes to the Medicare trust fund.” (Map). I also find that to be an extremely important quote, they are putting in what the people get it. It is almost as if they are paying their right to be here anyways. Texas has better opportunities for immigrants and will be treated better, so there should not be an issue especially after seeing those statistics and just how much they are putting in to our economy. “Texas has the fifth highest rate of immigrant business ownership in the country” there have been many telling stories about immigrants who have been a huge part of Texas’s economic success. They offer more to our state and Houston the biggest city in Texas thrives off of business, there is more than 230,000 immigrants in Harris County …show more content…
More people, more money, more opportunities. It seems that we benefit very much in Texas as a whole because of immigrants. If Congress would pass the DREAM Act Texas could very much benefit from it. It is a bill that would legalize 325,000 illegal immigrants who came here as children. These immigrants could get an education, work legally, thus causing the DREAM Act to result in higher earnings and also increase our spending money. This would bring in an estimated $66 billion and create almost 282,500 new jobs by 2030.
Immigrants are still helping create jobs through seasonal and temporary work. This is the case for most immigrants in Texas, which is still really benefiting to our state. We have been fortunate to have help from these individuals and in my opinion; they deserve the same chances we have. There is just more chance of them succeeded if they come to Texas versus staying in Mexico. Crime is high, money is not as valuable, and education is not valued as much. If we keep going down the same path we have with immigrants I could see us having a very effective future. Immigrants are dedicated and motivated when they come to Mexico to Texas. We offer a world of difference for these individuals. Some may not agree, but from the statistical rates and estimates I would venture to say that we could become a very successful state with the help of
