The book “The Alchemist” starts off in a small town in the middle of the desert with a shepherd named Santiago. So he traveled into the desert like he was told. The first person he came across was a man who sold magic glass bottles. The man offered Santiago a job, and Santiago learned many things. The most important thing Santiago was taught from the wise old salesman (who never achieved his dream) that giving up on your dreams in life gets you nowhere. Santiago then comes across a candy seller who has achieved his dreams, and Santiago learns how happy achieving your dreams can make you. The journey continues and Santiago comes across an Englishman in search of the philosophers stone, the Englishman too was going on a journey to find his purpose. But the Englishman was too afraid to follow them, and that was his downfall. Luckily, Santiago was able to teach the man that fear was the one thing in the way of the man finding what he wanted. He then came across bandits who sought out to rob and hurt Santiago, it made Santiago want to give up, but he didn’t. It taught him and us the valuable lesson that sometimes people wanna stop you from achieving your dreams, but you shouldn't
