“Democracy is a system of government in which political authority is vested in the people” (Bardes, Shelley and Schmidt, p.8). Democracy is the people have the power and authority. Democracy opens doors to lots of opportunity because of the first amendment rights and the three branches of government. We are one the luckiest countries in the world because we are under a democracy rule and not hierarchy system or the socialist or communist system. Voting, this is another big issue in our society. Some people don’t get to vote or even to be counted so they depend on people with vested rights to vote on their behalf and the majority of vote should be casted on their designated choice. As a citizen you have the right to vote and be voted for so do all it takes to make your vote counted. As a citizen you need to know at least the fundamentals of democracy in other to vote or being voted for. Citizens must be giving more than enough opportunity and encouragement of what choices would be best served. During election citizens should have at least a brief knowledge of who they are about to put in power. It won’t be fair if you vote and later on your representative turns out to be a fool due to his salary pay or the position. A community without rules or regulations will come tumbling down some day because it won’t be as stable as their idea was before making it only if they resources for each and every individual.
