We accompany Cheeseboy in his five stages of anger these include denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance, learning to live without the ones he loves who happens to be his parents. Playwright Finegan Kruckemeyer’s writing achieves fable like qualities, linking death to the passing of time, the moon and the tides turning and not turning. We also embark on Cheese boy’s journey of resilience and independence, although cheeseboy loses his parents, his planet is hit by a meteorite and turned into fondue, and he lands on earth which he knows nothing. Cheese boy is still determined to find his parents. And even though he meets a pair of gypsies who do their best to love him and make him happy he is committed to returning home and finding his parents. Director Andy Packer and playwright Finegan Kruckemeyer incorporate these themes into the production and they indicate to the audience that Cheeseboy is becoming a man.
