When a tragedy occurs, everybody often comes together to be there for each other. In that time, more often than not, singing begins because regardless of who they are, listening to music can make them feel sad, relieved and united. Music makes people feel better when it is tuned at 440 hertz, but if standardization were changed for 432 hertz, the feeling of relief could be more widely spread. It is currently the standard for tuning, so those against 432 believe it is just best to leave it as is. However, there is no reason to keep it at this frequency just because it is already the “norm.” “His (Dr. K. Anders Ericsson) research is the basis for the “ten-year rule” and “10,000-hour rule” which suggest that it requires at least ten years and/or 10,000 hours of deliberate practice to achieve an expert level of performance in any given domain.” Many musicians, especially those on the professional level, reach for this amount of time put into their skill. This research shows that it is rare a musician is willing to take the easy way out. It wouldn’t make sense to keep tuning at 440 hertz just because it would be easier to leave it the way it is. There isn’t a performer who would just leave an excerpt the way it is just because, so a small detail such as tuning, should be treated the same. Many steps must be taken to make beautiful music and none of those steps should be
