the reign of omnipotent divinities or force, yet still having a classical influence today, is predominantly the chief factor in making choices. Different beliefs believe different things, but an Oedipus myth addresses both aspects.
Oedipus myth acknowledges the gods, their oracles, and soothsayers throughout the playwright. Tiresias, the soothsayer, plays the most important role quintessentially by simply having a knowledge of the future. Consequently, informing the king about the things to come, and how to avoid the coming; therefore, Tiresias establishes himself as a deus ex machina. The gods are just like humans if they can not see into future, yet Tiresias evidently accurately predicts the feats of man in brief a moment. The Oracle of Delphi and other oracles share a connection to divinities, specifically to the healer(Apollo). The Greeks believed that once an oracle gave a statement about something, whatever they said was going to occur, or a remedy a problem(in Oedipus myth case). The characters in the myth, follow what any person at the time would do: pay homage to the Oracle/gods, then ask them to look into their plight, and see what can be done to resolve the problem.
