On that day the leader of Al-Qaeda Osama Bin Laden ordered the attack on the Twin Towers in downtown Manhattan. This attack was the worst attack in history. When the towers came down it killed almost 3 thousand people. Ever since I was young I have always had a great deal of respect for our service men and women. I come from a military background. Both of my grandpas were in the military. When the attacks on 9/11/01 happened and I got older and came to understand more about what happened I became infuriated about it. I became infuriated that thousands of innocent people died at the hands of some gutless bastard who just wanted to kill Americans just because they were a American. Being an American is everything to me. It means that I have freedoms that other people are not fortunate enough to have. When something happens to my …show more content…

bin Laden’s mother and father were distant because of Hamida’s (Osama bin Laden’s mother) independant personality.Mohammed (bin Laden’s father) had many other wives and they made Hamida the outcast and called her al-Abeda (the slave). His mother, Hamida, was soon sent to a home for Mohammed’s ex-wives. The only attachment bin Laden had to anyone in the family home, was to Mohammed’s first wife, al-Khalifa. Young bin Laden became a shy, introverted boy.(Biography Osama bin laden A&E Alex Woolf). I don’t think any American can forget where they were when 9/11 happened. I was going into my history class when I learned about it. My teacher had the T.V. on even though the administration asked the teachers to turn the TV’s off. We watched it and discussed what was going on for the entire hour and a half that we were in the class. My teacher was very emotional and crying and so were some of the students. Some of the students were in shock and others were oblivious to what this meant for our country. I was emotional myself. This was such a tragic event and I didn’t think it would be an event that would affect my life the way that it did. I think I was too young at the time to truly understand the seriousness that would come out of the attacks of 9/11. This tragic event changed America in so many ways.…

How could someone do this, why would they, who was the cause of such pain and those answer came. Then I started asking questions like what did we do to them, to make such retaliation happen. That was clearly not the most American thing to do in some people's eye. I remember being in my honors American history class and being called un-American for thinking like that and how could we, the best country in the world, do anything wrong. I think that was the day I realized that I was going…
