United States presidents have taken actions that have had a significant effect on United
States foreign or domestic policies. These actions have not only had a great significance on
the United States but has also help shape and build America as a unit. Both president
George Washington and President Woodrow Wilson have made huge decisions that left
them on edge in which they didn’t know whether or not this was good for our country.
President Washington have came with the decision on issuing the Proclamation of neutrality
in 1793 ; and President Woodrow Wilson came up with the statement of proposing the
fourteen points ,both of these decisions that these presidents have made have gain and
maintained us as a better and safer America . President George Washington had came up with the decision of issuing the
because of the war between Great Britain and France had in April 1793. It designed to keep
America out of future wars. In the early 1790's Europe was at war.At the time George
Washington was president and he was only trying to hold the new nation together. He
believed that if they got involved in the European war, on either side it could mean melt
down to the United States through division or bringing the war to the American shores. As a result , he chose a position of neutrality, which he maintained throughout his entire
presidency. He believed that America should not get caught in the inside affairs of other
nations and issued this Proclamation of Neutrality to state the position of his government.
President Woodrow Wilson proposed the fourteen points. It was thought of to end
World War 1 and for keeping peace afterwards. out of the 14 points only 6 were put in effect
as Wilson had wanted.These were 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, and 14. The 14th point led to
establishment of the League of Nations.
