Theo 104
Reflection Paper #1
Introduction: Within this paper I will be reflecting over the first part of Theology 104. This class has addressed many topics that have given me a better understanding on Christianity, the Bible and most importantly Jesus Christ. I will be addressing two topics that I feel are very important to Christianity the first topic being the Importance of Personal Testimony and the second topic covering the Importance of Maintaining a Christian Lifestyle. Both of those topics I think help lay a foundation for an individual’s walk with Christ.
The Importance of Personal Testimonies: A person’s testimony explains why they are a Christian. Their testimony tells about their faith and the life experiences that have brought them to their faith. Testimonies are also given to help others relate so that they may either accept Christ as their personal savior or the testimony can also bring hope and strength to a Christian who is struggling. Testimonies are powerful; Dr. Towns discussed in the presentation “Arguments that the Bible is the word of God” the convicting, convincing, converting argument as being one of the ways that proves the Bible to be the Word of God. I especially liked this argument because those three steps build a person’s testimony and it transforms lives. The Bible expresses the importance of a person’s personal testimony in many verses. An example would be after Jesus healed the demon possessed man, Mark 5:19 (NIV) states that “Jesus did not let him, but said, ”Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” That verse makes it very clear that we are to spread our testimony on to others. Jesus also stated in Mark 16:15(NIV) “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”
Christianity is more than just a Sunday morning sermon. Life seems to get so busy that many lose sight on their personal
