Application of Concept to the vignette:
The daily life interaction between the family members of Miley reflects the system’s rules in the family in a dynamic way. These rules and interactional patterns can be recognized through the type of the interaction between Miley and her father and identified by the level of closeness between them. The relationship between Miley and her father reflect the big distance between them and the communication type is negative. Miley summarized this distance when she sadly stated, “Dad, you just don’t get it.” The father also was not able to soften or to close this gap of this communication between them and he had difficulty understanding what has happened related to the changes in Miley’s behavior.
That type of negative interaction reflects negative patterens about each other like blaming, confusion, anger, and withdrawing symptoms. According to that, the interpretation of each one of the family members to the reaction of each one of them grounded on the individual unrealistic assumptions, the father is wondering what is happening with Miley as if Miley is the only one has changed in the family and the father …show more content…
The therapist will focus on the subsystem as Miley and her father as well recognizing and identifying the inappropriate boundaries. The therapist can reframe the boundaries by educate Miley and her father about their boundaries in a conjoined session, therapist can exchange the chairs to challenge current hierarchy and coalitions, positions, commenting on the type of boundaries they have, conceptualize with them the reasons behind that, initiate respect and the right for each partner to have his or her own
