1. Criminology has focused a majority of its research based on the crimes committed by those of the male gender. The male gender has comprised the great majority of offenders adjacent to the time and place. Feminists began to argue the fact as to why woman could not be included in the research of criminology? One could research why it is woman have committed less crimes than that of men? The woman who did commit crimes have all been represented in negative and stereotypical ways, focusing on their failure to adhere to the “traditional” models of appropriate female behavior, as stated in W.I. Researchers and theorists have assumed that the study of male crime was the generic study of crime and that woman who engaged in crime were more of an aberration, rather than a subject to be studied in and of itself. Ultimately, the feminist approach to criminology began as a result of the critique of this practice. It has only been within the last 30 years that the feminist criminology has developed into a recognizable perspective in criminology. The term feminist criminology, however, is slightly misleading as perhaps it might be better to speak of feminist chronologies. Feminist criminology encompasses a wide range of theoretical perspectives and methodologies that place the ways in which gender shapes experience at the center of the scholarly inquiry.Focuses were placed on a broad range of issues related to crime and woman, including the theoretical explanations of crime, responses to female offending, programming in women's prisons, woman workers in the field of corrections, and the special needs of women prisoners. Yes, I do believe that feminist criminology has had an influence on the rise of women committing criminal acts. According to an article on the internet, women were pushing for equality and as a result, criminal acts committed by women
