There Will Come Soft Rains, By Ray Bradbury

Ray Bradbury uses a plethora of irony in “There will come soft rains.” His use of irony amplifies the bleakness of many moments within the story giving a more substantial, lingering impact to the reader. Take the scene in the story where the dog perishes only a few feet away from a kitchen that had prepared a large meal. This scene embodies the general use of irony in this story.
