Thich Nhat Hanh Analysis

When he first begins his book Thich Nhat Hanh talks about how it is important to not let suffering take control of us as people. That we should focus other important things in life which are the good things like beauty and pleasant moments. He explains how a smile has the power to impact people. He states: If in our daily life we can smile, if we can be peaceful and happy, not only we, but everyone will profit from it. This is the most basic kind of peace work (5). So what Hanh is saying is that by smiling you can impact others from your good mood. He previous mentioned how if one meditates it is important for them to smile as it is a necessary. We can see how important this is because just from smiling alone can make a person feel much better
than they once were. Thich Nhat Hanh continues talking about the importance of a smile as he describes conversation that he had with his friend. His friend is unable to smile because they are going through sorrow in their life. He expresses to her that she cannot let her sorrow over take her because we are more than that. This conversation relates to me very well as I have also experienced some sorrow in my life recently but just as Thich Nhat Hanh wants us to smile my relative would also want us to do the same thing to be normal again our lives.
