Conflicts arise everyday for every person. The conflict may be small and simple to fix, but others may be catastrophic and cause a lot of damage. How a person reacts to a conflict says a lot about their character and how they impact others. If you have a negative reaction, chances are the conflict will get worse. If you have a positive reaction, the conflict could improve. There are many examples of this logic, especially in Chinua Achebe's novel Things Fall Apart. Reactions are directly correlated with the outcome of the conflict. One type of conflicts that could arise is a “Man versus Man” conflict. In this type of conflict there is usually one right and one wrong person. Seeing eye-to-eye can be a problem when conflicts arise. In Things Fall Apart, Okonkwo does not see things the way the white missionaries do. His own son, Nwoye, becomes one of the followers of the missionaries. Nature is very unpredicting, especially in the past where technology was not as advanced. Let’s say that a farmer planted his crops in early summer. By the end of the growing season, all of his crops failed due to drought and extreme heat. This would be a very big conflict because it's how we get food and it is how this farmer gets his income. The positive way to react so the conflict can improve, is to try again. This shows that the farmer is a hard worker who cares about providing for his family and others. The farmer shouldn't get discouraged no matter how easy it is, but try even harder and stay confident in himself. Having this positive reaction can make him have an even better growing season and be more successful. This can also help him gain respect from others and help his appreciate what he has accomplished
