Vampires have always been an idea tossed around and portrayed differently through what other people see them as. Some see them as sparkly vampires that have an inevitable love for a human, and others see them as the cruel beasts that the origin stories conclude. In How to Read Literature Like a Professor, Foster states that one doesn’t have to be a vampire to have vampire- like qualities through their actions or thoughts. In A Tale of Two Cities, Marquis Evrémonde portrays these exact qualities and everyone soon learns of what he truly has done and meets his inevitable death in the end.…
Sometimes I feel as though I’m more in stage 1 the Unreflective Thinker. Although I think, I’m unaware of how my thinking is structured or how to asses and improve it. At times when I experience problems in thinking, I feel as though I lack the skills to identify and fix the problems. Take my job for example, when dealing with irate customers I take a step back and look at it from their perspective; however, I feel as though I lack the confidence to help the customers fix their problems. There are also times when it’s busy and short drivers, I have to come up with a decision that requires me to think things through before making a final decision. Since I am a dispatcher, it is up to me to ensure the drivers arrive at their destination within twenty minutes and ensure all drivers get their turn at running calls.…
After reading “The Beginning Thinker,” I knew that’s my style of thinking. I have been thru so much in my life that now I break my thinking process down. I analyze everything. Like I have said I’m an addict and just to be able to come to that thinking process was the hardest thing I have ever done. I was in deny and block the thought of being an addict. I’m more open to the idea that I have or had a problem. I try to change my thinking pattern around more now than before. I look at different solution in a whole new light. I try to figure out why something is the way it is then just saying it is what it is. I want to know what caused it, how to fix it and how I could have done it different. I tend to ask question when I’m stuck but I still try to dominate others to get what I want. I also believe that I’m in this thinking stage because I still can remember being in the Challenged Thinker stage and being able to remember where you was and where you are now is very…
When I was in fifth grade, my class talked about lockdown procedures. I was shocked at how little our school could do to keep out intruders, but even more surprised that people involved in school shootings didn’t see the ways around the simple defences. My mind instantly came up with limitless ways someone harmful could get into my school. Of course, I will never do something like a shooting, but it was easy to see ways someone could. In addition, one of my favorite things to do is to read about psychology or a story about someone and then use it to analyze people and ideas. Whenever I am just sitting in a crowded place, I study what people are doing and try to get a better idea of who they are and why they do things. This shows that I have an analytical way of thinking. Going along with being analytical, I also hold back a lot of sharp retorts. Whenever someone says something uneducated or rude, I have to hold my tongue so I don’t offend them. It’s the same way when people use incorrect grammar. These issues and other things, including some things that have happened in my family, have not made it easier for me to keep things back, but I have gotten better at it. This shows my self-restraint. As for being clever, I don’t exactly know, but when I was younger, I could always find a way to get out of trouble and someone else into trouble. I could talk my little sister into anything. Now I try to use this for better causes, like getting good grades or solving a riddle, but the trait is still there. I can usually come up with points and ideas quickly. Although I do have these character traits in common with Doctor Livesey, we are not exactly the same. I consider myself a leader, but not always in a quiet way. I go for it. At times, I am more likely to take an active side in an argument rather than try to end it. In addition, I do not always think before I act like the doctor does. While…
My results from The Career Plan Building Activity: Competencies indicates that I am very familiar with strategizing. I also reflected very scores in coping with pressure and innovating. This has a lot to do with the way I analyze things and complete tasks. I always think positive in all situations. Coping with pressure tells exactly how I handle all arguments or debates. In my case, it would be how I express the song. The song could also represent an argument. I always take the positive approach on any argument. Knowing that arguments are not just one sided, it is common for on to express emotion on a topic of interest. I only show my emotion in a song. As an artist, I spend all my time trying to express an argument that has meaning to me. I tend to keep my emotions under control very well. As an artist, you also experience a lot of criticism by listeners. Criticism only makes you better. I used their criticism as a way to make me improve what I am…
Below we will be discussing the results of the reasoning aptitude evaluation. This evaluation discusses the strengths and opportunity competencies that one may need to become more successful in their career path. Below I will be evaluating my strengths and weaknesses when developing my career path and how I work in a group, or on a team. As stated by Stacy Flint (2013)” When planning and choosing a career it helps to know the many benefits reasoning aptitude testing offers. Taking reasoning aptitude tests not only helps determine primary thinking styles, but it also helps in understanding how arguments influence thoughts and persuasive communication.”…
Another way in applying my results can be in how I evaluate arguments. For example, adapting to change or coping with pressure are great competencies in which can help me evaluating arguments. With adapting to change, it can help me view the argument from a different point of view. It can open my eyes in seeing other possible solutions and coming to an agreement. Also with coping with pressure, it can help me by keeping me calm when in an argumentative position. Not only can it keep me calm but by staying calm, it can help me stay confident in what is argued. After taking this assessment, it has helped me understand my competencies when being applied to critical thinking and evaluating…
Another very obvious way that the Greeks influenced our society is through sports, and in that, mainly the Olympics. The Ancient Greeks highly valued strength and competitivity, therefore doing extremely challenging physical activities was highly encouraged even among girls (in Sparta). The greatest and most well-known sporting event was the Olympics, a major sports…
The result reflect that I work well in careers where success comes from applying practical skills and where thinking is used mostly to solve practical problems. I am likely to be attracted to very practical jobs and careers.…
Both/and is the positive look at the either/or thinking. When we think about both/and we combine both thoughts into one. This way we are faced with a much better alternative with both sides instead of just one. This is compromising to make both parties happy instead of one person just having it their way. Both parties have to be open-minded and okay with coming to best conclusion to make each other happy.…

I have the skills of inspiring, developing, deciding and resourcing I was not surprise to see that respondents also saw those competencies in me. They also gave me delivering, relating, solving and visioning. I was please to see those responses because I do relate things that I need to focus on to other things I have accomplished in the past. I like to solve and understand the problems and what cause the problem in order to solve it and learn from it. I look at the big picture and visualize myself once my goals or tasks have been accomplished.…
Critical thinking provides framework for successfully evaluating information to make effective decisions; critical thinking entails identifying the best investigation methods to use in finding optimal solutions (Feldman, 2009, pg. 9). In addition, critical thinking takes form in various thinking styles which range from deductive to creative. This paper examines three critical-thinking styles- emotional, logical and scientific. Comparing and contrasting these three styles is the purpose for writing this paper, as well as to show how each style affects the critical-thinking process. Critical thinking is applied to the decision-making process through discussion of workplace examples that highlight each of the three thinking styles examined. Robert Fritz, management consultant also credited with developing structural dynamics, had this to say about making decisions:…
My personality type is INTJ. I have taken his test on a number of occasions throughout my life and my findings are the same. What strikes me as different was that the scores did not add up to a whole percentage of 100. By this result I had a very low percentile in thinking and low percentile in judging. This is strange because I’m a huge thinker, I also have anxiety which explains why I overthink many things and why I have no marginal preference of thinking over feeling. I am analytical, I am most comfortable working alone and tend to be less sociable than other types. Yet I am prepared to lead if no one else seems up to the task, or if they see a major weakness in the current leadership. As stated by the INTJ I as well tend to be pragmatic, logical, and creative. I do not readily accept authority based on tradition, rank, or title…
