Third Person Narration
This is a good start for a draft. Even though the story uses third person narration, it sounds as if the readers are in Adam’s head. The narrator has sarcasm in their tone, adding to the feeling that this is a close third person. It caused me to see a connection between the two. An example is when the narrator says “like he achieved some life goal” (6). Also, the story contains realistic elements, especially Adam’s brooding attitude and how his whole family. Adam is the strange one in his family.
However, as the story goes on, his brooding nature turns into pure aggression. A part that shows this is when “Adam shoved Claire off the door handle and hissed “I get front.”” (4). His action is unexpected and made me hate Adam’s character. I already

For the emotional aspect of moving out of the homeless shelter, leaving when he did only helped moving out easier for him. It was clearly hard for Adam to do this as he explained on page 141, but good choice in this aspect because sticking around in the homeless shelter where he was generally comfortable was a red flag for the path to his goal. Even though he knew the people there, he also knew that eventually he would have to leave to reach his goal of the American Dream. I don't know if this was any motivation for his decision, but at least on a subconscious level this helped…

"My eyes were still closed. I was in my house. I knew that. But I didn't feel like I was inside anything. It's really something I said." This statement is said by the narrator of the story at the end of the story, where at this point you finally come to the realization of what the true meaning or theme is behind the story. Cathedral, by Raymond Carver, shows that you do not have to see someone or something in order to appreciate them for who or what they are. It is about a husband, the narrator, and his wife who live in a house. The wife, whose name they do not mention, has a very close friend who is blind. His name is Nick. Nick's wife dies, and comes to their house to spend a couple of days with the narrator and his wife. The narrator, whose name they do not mention as well, is always on edge because he does not really know Nick very well and he does not like blind people, but he is being friendly for his wife's sake. The story comes to an end, when Nick and the narrator draw a Cathedral together using the narrator's hand and helped by Nick. This story does follow typical dramatic development, which helps develop the theme perfectly. In the beginning of the story Carver, the author, gives you an idea of what type of characters you are working with. He then forms the rising action with conversation among the three characters. The climax is when the blind man, Nick, and the narrator begin to draw the Cathedral, which leads up to the resolution of how the narrator becomes changed and learns a valuable lesson, which is the overall theme of the story.…

At first glance, the story appears to be banal and simplistic. Adam( Ulrich Thomsen) is a neo-Nazi and former convict. In order to rehabilitate, he arrives to a countryside parish run by vicar Ivan(Mads Mikkelsen), who seems to not accept the harsh reality and blames Satan for all his failures. There he also meets two men who are under Ivan’s supervision: Gunnar(Nicolas Bro), an alcoholic and former tennis player, and Khalid(Ali Kazim), who regularly raids local petrol station. Adam undertakes to bake an apple pie as a means of rehabilitation - a task that becomes nearly impossible due to upcoming events.…
