Her Weakness Every girl wants to find Mr. Right but he usually appears in a girl’s life when she is independent and with her girlfriends having fun. Love is a feeling most humans crave for. It is natural for someone to want acceptance and comfort from another human being… but sometimes love find its own way without any signs and it is a surprise. Being patient is a hard task to do but it will be worth it. Love will find its way and there is never an expiration date on love. Mary Jane, she was 17 years young and wasn’t looking for anyone special. She used to be naïve and foolish when she fell for boys in her younger years of growing up. Back when Mary Jane was 13 years old, she was in middle school and had a lot of friends. It was a regular day at school she thought, but oh…was she wrong. That day, a new student had transferred to her school and on the first day there he was in her history class, his name was Peter. She was working on her assignment when her teacher interrupted the class and announced, “Class, we have a new student who’s going to be with us for our 8th grade year!” Mary Jane kept looking at Peter…she thought he was so handsome. He sat in the back next to where she was sitting. All of a sudden, the teacher said that there is going to be a project due in two days and Peter was assigned to be in Mary Jane’s group. “This is it”, she thought. She can finally talk to this mystery guy and get to know him a lot more. So, she asked what his name was and he said, “Peter”, she said her name was Mary Jane. Slowly but surely they started to hang out at school and outside of school together. She introduced him to her friends and they accepted him just as much as her. They were becoming so close to each other... One day during school he asked Mary Jane if he could talk to her. Peter took her to somewhere quiet and stood in front of her and said, “I really like you… and I was wondering if you wanted to go

It was a casual August afternoon in Minneapolis, people walking the down the sidewalk, strangers passing by. We were visiting my old hometown. I was walking with Beth, and we were messing around. I used to have an inside joke with one of my friends from fifth grade, “Girl you need to chill.” It stuck once I moved. Anyway, Beth had just told me to chill, so, I walked into the nearest cold building. Which of course, ended up being a meat locker… 15 minutes later I was coming out and saw an all too familiar pair of square glasses. Before I could see her face, she turned away. Her bleached tip hair swung across her shoulders. The dark skin, the hair and glasses, it had to be Miracle Brown. This is the girl who was one of my best friends in sixth grade. She started heading down the street, so I told Beth to meet me back at our hotel.…

It is the love we witness from the movies that cause the confusion for many hopeless romantics. For instance, the characters of the ‘Notebook’,( Allie Hamilton and Noah Calhoon). Both raised in different households , but yet somehow came into each other’s lives. Crossing each other’s path to a local town carnival, Allie being on a double date with her friend Sarah, and Noah hanging out with his friend Finn. Infatuated with Allie’s grace and beauty, Noah walked up to the beautiful girl and asked, “You wanna dance with me?” Allie who seemed somewhat disgusted by the appearance of Noah replied, “No”. Again trying to act confident about his choice asked “Why not?” then she timidly replied, “Cause I don’t want too”.…

George Orwell was “disgusted by the inhumanity of colonial rule that he witnessed while stationed in Burma” (2835 Orwell). Using his writing to confess the inner conflict of an imperial police officer, he wrote an autobiographical essay titled Shooting an Elephant. He notes that the Burmese civilians were not allowed to own guns during his stay – a testament of British control over Burmese resources. Feeling “stuck between his hatred of the empire he served and his rage against the evil-spirited little beasts who tried to make his job impossible” he knew that “the sooner he chucked up the job and got out of it the better” (2844 Orwell). Orwell repressed his emotions because acting out as the only white man would have been foolish. If he betrayed his country, he risked treason. If he sided with the Burmese, he would never fit into their culture. Every white man’s life long struggle in the East was to not be laughed at, so the safest choice for a man like George was to live without action. However, when a sexually aggressive elephant gets loose Orwell is called to take action.…

When conjuring an image of love, the likeliest initial response is of people “in love.” This love that is separated from the other types by sexual desire and carnal attraction is called eros. People can twist this form of love in two significant ways that limit its potential. One way eros is manipulated is through the idea of “soul mates,” or more specifically, that somewhere there is another individual who matches the one perfectly–an individual in whose love the other can find his or her identity. The problem arises in finding this person, as–despite what media and self-perpetuating stereotypes might lead one to believe, the perfect soul mate does not exist. Entertainment and media have created impossibly high standards to fulfill, so that a person must be incredibly attractive, endearing, patient, passionate, ever-understanding, successful, impressive, and more. Divorce rates are higher than ever before as people…

My mom and I were running late. Not like it was anything new. We were supposed to be in Moulton no later than 5:30, and now it was closer to 6:00. We finally pulled into the apartment complex, where we were supposed to meet this guy, at a little after 6:00. After searching for this guy for a few minutes[->0] and a few phone calls, we assumed that we had missed him. "See Mom, you should have gotten off of work early," I said just as I saw the guy pull into the parking lot. "Hey are you ready to move into your apartment?" asked the guy. After a few minutes of struggling to get the furniture into the apartment, I figured it was the end of the adventure. A few weeks[->1] later, after getting home from work, my mom was telling me that I would never guess who had called her earlier in the day. Not being in a great mood, I just shrugged my shoulders as to suggest that I didn't really care. Then she asked me if I remembered the guy who we had met just a few days before.
