Two of the Same When people think of college they don’t picture the total cost. They just let their parents worry about the money part, so they don’t have to. But there are many people who have to worry about the cost on their own. Those people along with some of the parents have a hard time being able to afford the tuition. It is really sad that tuition is so high. That is a reason why many people don’t attend college because they can’t afford it. Parents work hard to pay for their kid’s school, also the people who are working and going to college. It shouldn’t be so expensive. Colleges have so many fees that they make you pay for, like student union, and lab fees, well most students don’t even use them, like the students who commute. There are parents and students who have to work several jobs just to afford tuition and be able to live. In articles, “Three Reasons College Still Matters” and “Vocation or Exploration: Pondering the Purpose of College,” they talk about how parents feel because they are unable to send their kids to college or their kids have to work and how it makes it hard on them.
Like a student’s parents that make $90,000, have one and two chances of going. Students whose parent make too much money get no help, except if the student receives a scholarship. It’s like people get punished for making too much money. But a student’s parents that make $35,000 have one and seventeen chance of going because they can get financial aid. It shouldn’t have to be that way. If college would lower the tuition and stop charging fees that don’t matter there would be more students attending college.
