As part of the Communist Party, China’s Government is way different in the way they run their country. The Tiananmen Square Incident is an example of how they ran the country, to compare how China runs their country today.. As students protested in the square, Chinese troops arrested many and killed many on June 4, 1989. Tiananmen Square effected China in whole and there are ways where China has not changed at all, but this event has made an impact on the rest of the world. The students began to protest because Yaobang was a leader who tried to make better changes for China and make the “political system” more free. In April 1989, Just a few days following the death of Yaobang, the students come together in Tiananmen Square and mourn as well as protesting against the Chinese Government. Zhao Ziyang comes to the square and asks for the students to stop protesting, but later on the protests still continue (Tiananmen Square Fast Facts, 2016). All the demonstrations and the people who were involved with this incident just shows how China works. This country does not allow the people of China to speak their minds and ask for what they desire. Meaning, the Chinese government limits their people’s freedom. There was even point in China’s laws where it was only allowed to have one child per family. Why did Tiananmen square fail while the 1989 revolutions succeeded? It seems that both had mass, national support in a struggle against well-armed, ideological regimes that were facing economic challenges. So why did China survive? The May li massacre was a terrible circumstance and an event that happened March 16th 1968 during the Vietnam War, in which American soldiers rape, pillage and killed unarmed Vietnamese civilians in a small village, the result was worldwide outrage. As the three companies (Charlie Company), led by Lieutenant Calley entered the village and started firing at the villagers that included women, children and elderly as well as raping the young women, LT Calley himself put a enormous amount of villagers in a ditch and began firing on them. The total deaths ended up being approximately 500 villagers. As I remember the movie “Platoon” 1986, there was a part, in which soldiers fired on a village, making that a small snapshot of that portion of the Vietnam War. LT Calley was investigated and sentenced to prison with hard labor, but was later released.…

Americans had fun, doing activities besides work and having freedom, which meant using that free time to “go wild.” Another problem was that the Chinese people were trying to lay under the radar in America. As Vietnam Memorial architect Maya Lin thought at the age of 21. “I probably spent the first 20 years of my life wanting to be as American as possible.” (Source G) This was how a lot of Chinese immigrants felt. They felt the need to blend in and just go through their life thinking that they need to be as “American” as possible. The point of America is to celebrate the differences in our cultures. The first amendment is the freedom of speech, assembly and religion. In America, you can say what you want to say, do what you want to do and be who you want to be. Although the Chinese immigrants had troubles during the first years of immigration, they felt discriminated against, but the truth is that hey were being just as discriminatory to the whites as the whites were to them. If both sides, the Americans and the Chinese, accept eachother for who they really are and get past prejudices that are baseless, it would be possible to have American circumstances…

Although they may not witness the suppression of speech being forced upon others, they may have seen it on the news or have read about it in articles. In the documentary “Chicago Girl” the film follows the story of a 19 year old girl that is leading a revolution in Syria against their leader Bashad al-Assad. The film shows the citizen being killed and tortured after standing their ground and demanding to have their rights as human beings. The documentary depicts the hierarchy of the country showing that the citizens are at the bottom with little to almost no rights, while the leaders are at the top and do whatever they want. When a country follows the economic system of communism it comes with some limitations on freedoms of expressing opinions. Even though in this system all people are treated as equals it is also a way for leaders to enforce censorship of topics over the entire nations. This means that if there is no freedom of expression that means that everybody, no matter their rank in social status must follow these rules. According to an article published on the Stanford University website, the author explains how communism works in China and the censorship they have online. Unlike other countries where people can post a blog whenever they want, China receives all publish information and it is carefully examined in order to see if someone is trying to publish an opinion that the government does not agree with or so that the public is unable to see…

The desire to defend Hong Kong is strong, and despite the oppressive rule, very few want to leave. Ultimately, much like the Tiananmen square protests, many individuals respect the educated youth for their dedication to these protests.…

For a country, if you fulfill more international obligations and more international responsibilities, you will get more support and you will enjoy more freedom. For example, the Ebola outbreak in West African not only posed a threat to the people of West Africa, but also posed a threat to public health security in the world. As a country that shoulders great responsibilities, the Chinese government provided substantial assistance and actively participated in relevant international cooperation,to fight against Ebola. The actions have been highly praised by the World Health Organization, the United Nations and West African countries. Therefore, China is playing an increasingly important role in international affairs. Similarily,if a country wants to enjoy its right of freedom, it must take up the responsibilities and obligations of international affairs.…

In China in 1989, there was a growing movement for economic, political and social reform because of the overbearing oppressive style of government in China. Inflation was rampant and the government was very corrupt. Crowds, mainly college students, began to gather in Tiananmen Square to protest the government and this went on for two months. Finally, in early June, tanks rolled in to Tiananmen Square and many civilians were shot. Unlike the American Civil Rights Movement, where eventually, reforms in the laws were enacted in 1964, change in China came much slower and still needs work, but the brave souls who demonstrated and died in Beijing helped bring awareness to all the oppressed that change is…
