Tim Gideon Alternate Ending
‘Tim, must I remind you that tonight is the last night before we reach the shores of Cuba, I have used the rest of the ingredients that were soon to go off.’ The cook exclaimed as he came bursting through the doors with a steaming hot pot. As he set it down on the long wooden table, a waft of smells hit our noses sending us into a hungered frenzy. As all the sailors started to reach forward to scoop the contents from the pot, the cook slapped their hands away. ‘Hey! Even though you scallywags are barely ever in the presence of a lady, you know the rules. Woman always do first, besides she is sure going to need it.’ The cook studied me as his eyes swept up and down my full frame, sending shivers down my spine.
Slowly and cautiously I got …show more content…
My subconscious watched in horror as jagged flicks of red and black surged through the images, with a start I woke up still dizzy from my sleep. A cold and dirty hand was covering my mouth and as my eyes focused I realized I was staring into dark grey dead eyes. Bilton. But he was not alone I turned my head from one side to the other taking in the other sailors that were around me, Tim the scrawny sailor was holding my hands in place a crooked sneer covered his lips. I tried to scream but the hand clamped down even more, and as I tried to wiggle my hands free Tim held them tighter and I could feel my wrists on the verge of breaking.
‘Adrid hurry up with the ropes, I won’t be able to hold her for much longer.’ Tim said in a strangled voice as he tried to keep pressure on my wrists. Out of the shadows came the cook, in a second he was by Tim’s side and had wrapped a rope around my wrists in a very strategic pattern. A cloth was forced into my mouth and Bilton pulled me to my feet.
‘Don’t try breaking free or calling for help,’ Bilton whispered in my ear. ‘Your beloved papa and the captain have both been given a very special and rare substance… lets just say they won’t be waking up till tomorrow night. And when they discover you’re missing we’ll just tell them that when we docked at Cuba, you refused to get back on the ship so we had no choice but to leave you.’ Bilton’s breath smelt

The page following the book’s title depicts a scene at sea. The whole image is washed with a dark blue from the sky to the ocean, and the crashing waves convey a menacing journey has taken place. At the bottom of the page, if one looks closely, it is evident that the bottom of the wooden raft has been drawn but blends into the rest of the image. This inclusion of the raft changes the perspective of the image as the responder is now been positioned as if they were looking out from the raft, the place of the Man. An immediate bond has now been formed between the responder and the man, and for the rest of the text we continue to sympathise with him.…

The wave was murky coming towards like a rigid and supreme barrier. It began to coil over, he looked up the wave loomed over him. His father’s words came back to him giving him an urge of determination “a true mariner never deserts a sinking ship.” It heaved itself onto his boat. The boat shredded apart, jagged pieces of timber where floating and he was left sinking. His boat had plunged into the depths of the enigmatic ocean. The salted sea pricked at his delicate eyes and his spectral face white washed. He was crawling for breath kicking his feet neurotically. He managed to clench onto a residue of his boat his naked fingers scratching the plank and splinters dashing up his finger nails. For him time felt suspended. His clothes saturated with water clinging on and sticking onto his skin. He was wrinkling like a prune. He had a vacant expression, solitude was conquering him. He had to overcome this despair as the turbulence of the storm…

The turbid water gently engulfed her leather boots, tarnishing them more and more with every step. The street lights issued a lambent, orange glow into the surrounding area, accompanied by an ominous feeling that threaded through her every breath. The familiar throbbing of her pulse in her ears, the very testament of her existence, was slowly retreating. Instead, she could feel her anxious heart clasping the fabric of her chest tighter with every street corner. Rubbish floated aimlessly about the empty street as the moon sailed across the night sky like a ghostly galleon.…

June 6, 1944, 0630 hours (MacDonald). Not a single gull in the sky. All that could be heard were the crashing of waves against the side of the boat, the vomiting of my brothers in arms due to sea sickness and fear, and my own heartbeat, beating louder than it ever had. Water was continuously spilling over into the boat, waves crashing down over the walls soaking all of us inside. It was foggy, the sun could only be seen as a smear of light behind the gray and black that consumed the morning sky. Our boat was moving, I knew where to, but its direction almost impossible to tell. All that could be seen from inside the boat was the sky and the four walls that surrounded me. I was experiencing all these sounds and distractions and movements, yet, I felt as though I was…

A chilly wind had blown over the harbor. I held my gun at my side. My mind and body were alert. There had been reports of strange ships out in the lake. My gun was loaded. Out in the forest, I saw shapes moving. I picked up my gun and started to walk toward the shapes. I was careful to not let them know they had caught my attention. The figures stopped. They turned and sprinted away. They saw me. Who are they? I sprinted after them. They were going toward the river. I realized they had gone away. I ran back to the town hall.…

My adolescent legs strain as I continue along the path aimlessly, my stomach rumbles in emptiness as I realise I left without food. How can one think of such things at a time like that? I most certainly didn't, and now the only thing dwelling in my gut was the sore pain that was the increasing hate for the cruel beings that raised me. Lost in my thoughts my melancholy walking pattern is disrupted as my foot catches on a thick branch and I fall swiftly face first into a small jagged rock. Dazed, I lift myself up from the ground and dust myself off; my left eyelid closes automatically as blood rolls down the top of my face. Cursing, I wipe my face with my sleeve, soaking the cotton a blackish-red instantly. The shock dissipates and pain sets in, sharp agony mixed with a strange tingling sensation on my forehead. I forcedly push the pain to the back of my mind, and go to take my next step just as a small blue spherical object reflecting the moon catches my eye on the edge of the track. Interested, I walk over to it, and pick it up in my hands. After examining the dirt caked ball, images of my younger brother flash through my mind. Times spent together, kicking a ball in the backyard, taking him to his first movie, and then screams of pain, blood, oh god the blood is.... The ball drops to the ground as my hand trembles from the horrible images. I kick it far away off the trail in anger as Im reminded of the situation Im in. The smoky scent of a…

I woke up hazed with blurred vision. The right side of my face was dried and burned. The left side of my face was soaked in salt water and blood. I was freaked out and picked up my head and blinked rapidly. I saw nothing but blue for miles and miles, the sky and the water. When I looked down I saw nothing but a small black and orange rubber dingy. I tried to think about what had happened. It was then when I realized I couldn't even remember my own name. Then panic just settled in for some reason I jumped in the water freaking out. I came to my senses and quickly started using all my strength to hurdle myself in the dingy.…

Jessica writes about her life starting as a young girl at the age of ten who is responsible for a lot more work than many average ten-year-old. Hermauer wrote this essay to share her experience about working on her family’s farm, and how being brought up with chores and responsibilities made her successful in managing her time and being involved in her student body. Different audiences could relate to her age, social experiences and responsibilities. For example, someone who’s familiar with the duties of farm life might find the purpose of the essay to be about how farm life teaches you the importance of responsibilities you have to take care of farm. The daily authority and struggles that Jessica goes through as growing young women represents ethos in many ways. By working long hard hours completing many chores this switched her to a strong girl that brought her to a succeeded student and young women.” My eyes are heavy with sleep and struggle to open “. Jessica explains how they didn’t want to wake up so early to go to farm, however they had to wake up to help their farther, and how their father shouted like Wake up!!! “As soon as we open the door to the basement, we can smell the putrid aroma of cows that has seeped from our clothing into the damp cool air.” After when we go to breakfast “The delicious smell of smoked bacon and cheese omelets grows more intense with each step.” I love bacon and omelets, and I can just imagine how good that would smell and taste after working as hard as she did on the farm. Jessica makes farm life seem like it would really suck when she talks about how she could never play sports or join clubs and that would make her audience feel sorry for her. But then, she writes about the day that her father called a meeting and said that he would no longer need her help on the farm and she could do whatever she wanted. Turns out, that crappy farm life she had ended up helping her out a lot in the long run. She does a great job of wrapping…
