Native Americans-Personal Narrative
A chilly wind had blown over the harbor. I held my gun at my side. My mind and body were alert. There had been reports of strange ships out in the lake. My gun was loaded. Out in the forest, I saw shapes moving. I picked up my gun and started to walk toward the shapes. I was careful to not let them know they had caught my attention. The figures stopped. They turned and sprinted away. They saw me. Who are they? I sprinted after them. They were going toward the river. I realized they had gone away. I ran back to the town hall.

“I saw strange figures outside of town. They were Indians, I think. That must be why those ships were out there.”

I walked in as the other scout had finished giving his report. The town leader had sent

He poured the gunpowder in the empty pouch, and tied it up. He then cut a small hole in it, and put matches in there. They were unlit. He then gave the pouch to me, along with an object to light them.

“Here. Take this. When we go back up, I’ll make a distraction and let you run toward the harbor. Don’t look back. These Indians killed my best friend. He was a scout just like me. If we don’t stop them now, my friend will have died for nothing. I can’t have that”.

“Ok,” I said. I took the bomb. We got ready to run. We crawled back outside. The Indians had taken over the town. The scout, Thomas, rushed at one of the Indians. This gave me time to escape. I began to run, but I was knocked down by the Indian leader.

“You will go to jail for being in league with the town leader,” the town leader said. They led me to the jail. I had nowhere to go.

I need to escape, I thought. I was tensed up. I waited for their point of weakness. It would be when they were lifting me up to put me in jail. I pretended to faint. I waited until I was being lifted into the cell. I drew my arm back and hit one guard in the gut. I swung my other arm back to hit the other guard in the nose. He dropped me and I ran. I saw buildings on either side of me. I heard the yells of the

I landed on a dock. I sprinted into the forest. I tripped on an upturned rock. I fell into a tunnel. The air was filled with dust. I saw an Indian turn around. I recognized him. He was the Indian leader.

“You will be killed”, he said. He leaped at me. I was slammed against the wall. My head spun. I managed to get my hand to my pocket where the bomb was. I clumsily raised It out of my pocket and retrieved a match. I lit it, and raised it toward the bomb. Unfortunately he smacked the match from my hand. I realized something. I just had to keep him talking. The town leaders would surely be coming. The other scout would surely know my location.

“You'll never win,” I said. “The leaders are already on their way. If they don't come, that's fine. I'll just blow up this town. Like I said, you can't win”. Above us, the ground shook. Dirt fell into the hole. The Indian leader cursed and grabbed me roughly. It was too late. Troops stormed into the whole. I was grabbed once again, this time not roughly, and pushed toward the outside. I was knocked out and loaded onto a horse. I can't remember anything after

Although often viewed as inferior, savage and helpless, many historians are starting to discover the intelligence and wisdom the Indians had and shared with the colonists that came to America so long ago. As the settlers slowly began to create a new world on the already inhabited North America, they were plagued with starvation due to a severe drought in the area. Due to the dry lands and the settlers expectations to “rely on Indians for food and tribute,” (Norton 17) they were disappointed to find that the Indians were not so keen to handing out food and help to the strangers that have just come onto their land and begun to settle in such a time of severe weather and starvation. As time goes on, both the Indians and the Englishmen realize they both have what the other needs; tools from the white men and crops, land and knowledge from the Indians. As a result, the chief of Tsenacomoco, Powhatan, and colonist, Captain John Smith on an ideally peaceful, mutualistic relationship to ensure the survival of both civilizations. This agreement will leave the groups in cahoots for 100 of years leading to some disastrous scenarios and betrayals.…

On a seemingly normal, stress-free, fall day, I found myself walking through The Village of Rochester Hills. It goes without saying that writing was one of the last things on my mind as I was shopping. However, as things seem to do, my priorities were about to drastically change. As I was attacked by three teenage boys, my world began to spin. I was knocked out by one single blow to the side of my face. As I opened my eyes I saw the boys leaving me on the pavement of the parking lot. After a moment, I realized that my purse and all of my belongings had been taken. There and then was when I realized how important writing can really be. I instantly ran into the closest store and began writing down all I could recall about the incident. Filling the paper with descriptions of the boys’ clothes, hair, faces, the van they left in, and even their voices, I wracked my brain for all the information I had.…

I walked up to the man slowly, letting my steel toed boots tap loudly on the asphalt for additional intimidation. My six foot one body cast a shadow over the short man as I stood with my thirty two inch tree rested upon my shoulder. I told the man to leave my mother alone before something bad happened, in the thickest southern accent I could pronounce. The Indians’ idea of the English was they were highly skillful at sea and that their Navy was very powerful. There was thought of the English protecting them at sea instead of the Portuguese. They also pondered the thought of giving them both the chance to protect the ships and profit from the protection. The Indians were afraid of the fact that the Portuguese would become arrogant if they were unchallenged and the Indians had to do something about them. The ideas were uncertain because of the behavior of an Englishman who robed and harassed defenseless trading vessel. The three were weary if the English could be trusted.…
