Intro My name is ----, but people give me so many bloody nicknames, sometimes, I feel like I’m losing my identity. I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with English. Sometimes I love the concept of it. These words, they all have a meaning, whether it’s simple or complex. They have this way of staying in your head, creating thoughts, images, and a whole other world. At the same time, I hate the subject basically because of the curriculum. So much of the content is confusing, most of it is useless, and all of it is boring unless it’s been taught correctly. You have no idea how many plebs complain about English. Fight Club is my favourite movie as of right now, and Perception is my favourite show. I’m bipolar-to an extent, and I’m impatient. I don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but I know damn well it won’t be in politics. I don’t have a good relationship with my parents, and that’s why you’ll probably see me with my head down. I get into bed early, at nine, and I begin sleeping at one. I don’t know what I do for four hours, my memory usually wipes when I wake up. Currently, I’m typing this at midnight, on my iPod. My plan is send it to my email, where I can get it at school, then print it out. My favourite song is Easy Now by Sir Sly because no one knows him and the song is fabulous. I revolve around sports, watched football and ice hockey ever since I was young, started playing ice hockey last year, I was the school’s field hockey manager, and I’m trying out for lacrosse this spring. Roosterteeth is a gaming company that resides in Austin, Texas. I adore them more than anything else because they’ve come such a long way from buying domains online for fun, to holding gaming conventions, and producing their own podcasts, shows, and videos. I have very strong views about everything, and if I am completely silent in class, it means I don’t want to annoy everyone with a rant.

TL;DR
In reality, I am a complicated girl who curses

Today’s Lexicon has been gifted with a slew of self identifiers, some of which touch on significant aspects of our identity and some of which are less than relevant. With an arsenal of descriptives at our fingertips how we choose our identity is important. What makes it even more important is making sure that the formation of the basis of our identity is not influenced by systems of oppression so we can form our identities of our own volition and so that those identities can accurately reflect who we are. In the short stories…

London HighsmithAbuse demolished my education at very early age. I can remember the rambling and tumbling and rolling on the ground, I could never get used of that sound, my mother yelling, “Get off of me!” Life was all over the place nothing seemed to fit directly in place as it should. My literacy took a tragic turn for the worst because of it. Gerald Graff says that he didn’t realize reading sports illustrated was reshaping his intellectual identity. Barbaba Mellix says she needed to overcome her doubleness and ambivalence of Standard English. I say my development is closer to neither Graff of Mellix because my literacy suffered because of my domestic abuse and foster care. However success came around through my rebirth mother.…

Acquiring my natural optimistic inclination, these words were exhilarating; however, they became the words I soon detested. Lonely, bitter, hateful, and depressed, began to characterize my identity while I endured my transition. Furthermore, my entire life changed from being social, to becoming an outcast to my peers. Interests I used to have, such as reading, running, and philosophy, became absurd and futile. Negativity fueled my drive and motivation appeared nonexistentially throughout the course of my freshman year. Additionally, people from my town did not want to attempt to discern the type of person I was and how my identity became to be. Tammy Sanchez, the worthless “nobody”, became her label. The once buoyant, social, passionate, lady who saw life as her own fairytale, now conceived that life has no blissful ending. Having lost the basis of my being, I would stare into the mirror and constantly fail to recognize the person standing in front of…

    Randolph Ammons Poems

“You have your identity when you find out, not what you can keep your mind on, but what you cannot keep your mind off.” This seems like a quote everyone can relate to. We spend most of our trying to figure out who we are, when all we have to do is look inside and see what we truly cannot go one day without thinking about. This is my favorite quote from an author I have come to really enjoy this while studying this semester Archie Randolph Ammons. Ammons was an American born poet who specialized in satire poetry. In this research paper I will research Ammon’s life leading up to poetry and what helped him decide he wanted to be a poet.…

    Dating and Language

Initially when given this topic of “language,” I was a little confused. I starred at the instructions for about an hour trying to brainstorm ideas. At first, I wanted to write about Theatre and the role that it has as a universal language across the world. Although there may be a language barrier between the actor and audience member, the scenery, costume, facial expressions, and movement help tell a story. However, I choose not to use this topic because it wasn’t very personal. I actually brainstormed several ideas before coming across the one that I did. Even when I had the idea, I wasn’t positive I wanted to use it. Was it too personal? I was really worried that it conveyed a bad image of myself and I didn’t want anyone to really know about it. Finally, I decided that it was appropriate, considering the directions asked for a personal story. It was raw, personal, and very mature. I thought, “Now that I am in college, it is more than okay to branch out.” So I began telling the story of John and our horrible night. Rushes of emotions were running through my veins. Honestly, it put me in the worst mood. I didn’t want to think about it. As if this night wasn’t already horrible, I had to relive it in my head and describe every detail of it. I didn’t want to think of John and how annoying he was, but that’s all I could do. I was tempted to text or call him and let him know I was writing a paper about him, but I decided it wasn’t appropriate. It took a lot of strength to continue to write the paper, because this only happened about two weeks ago, but, looking back, I am glad I did…

Hi, my name is Braden Spangle. I was born in Spokane at deaconess medical center on July 23rd in 1998. My parents are Dustin Spangle and Jodi Griggs. My step parents are Drew Griggs and Dawn Spangle. I have three siblings, my one year old sister Gleason, my brother Grady who is 10, and my step-brother Josh who is 7. My parents got divorced when I was nine. I play two sports at Mt. Spokane, I play basketball and baseball. During the fall I race motocross and I am currently sponsored. I also like to go snowboarding and snowmobiling at Mt. Spokane. In the summer time I wakeboard, tube, and fish at my lake cabins. An interesting fact about me is when I was little I fell off the back of my boat and landed on the prop back first and it cut me open and I still have little scars. In the middle of the summer 2013 I was jet skiing going pretty fast and I slowed the jet-ski down and a boat went really close behind me. While I turned around I noticed a separate jet ski was coming at the huge wave the boat made to jump it. As I tried to take off I was crushed by a jet ski and fell in the water. A nearby boat had to pick me up. As I was in the water freaking out the boat asked for my Dads number. I gave it to him but seconds later I went in to shock until I got to the hospital. That day was pain, ivy’s and air masks in me and on me. The rest of the next month was terrible and still to this day my back hurts. English has been alright for me if I stay concentrated. I got a B last year and I did alright. Some goals that I have set are; getting an A, no missing assignments, and to study for tests. I would eventually really want to go to college somewhere and become a cop or a fireman.…

How are you doing? I hope all is well. My name is Fadel Nasereddin and I will be attending your humble English class for this school year. To begin with, English has, and still is, one of the subjects which I really direct focus and passion into. It is a major building block in constructing a strong foundation for not only my educational future, but my social one as well. From Shakespeare to Aldous Huxley, and subsequently Ernest Hemingway, the English subject has broadly enhanced my knowledge and diversified my perspectives in a positive manner. Now that I have gotten that out of the way, allow me to introduce you to my fun and interesting side. I am a fifteen year old kid who enjoys playing soccer more than anything. It is a great passion of mine as my childhood revolved around it, and I could proudly say that I have finally saved up to attend the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil! My friends and I usually book a court sometime through winter to play an 11- aside game to play as well. Besides soccer, one of my greatest hobbies is to travel around the world. I have already been living in four countries and visited some pretty nice European destinations. As I grow older I will hopefully save a few bucks down my sleeve to go on a backpacking tour across Europe. Public speaking is something which I do enjoy doing for most of the summer, I spent my time working at McDonald’s. I make great patties even though the manager tends to disagree at times, and if you ever happen to stop by at my branch I will supply you with a large coffee all on the house! For the remainder of the summer, however, I finished my volunteer hours by volunteering at a senior residence home and topped it of by going to jams and parties held by both family and friends. This summer would surely be one to remember, despite the fact that it ended within a blink of an eye.…

    i am special

I am special. I laugh when nothing is remotely funny. I have two left feet but I will dance in the middle of a crowd. I talk too much, I bump into walls daily, and I have a bad habit of biting my nails. I have a tragically terrible voice but I sing in the shower as if I’m a contestant on American Idol. I am unique. My characteristics may delight certain people, yet alienate others. My personality is my own and will not be changed for anything or anyone, aside for me. I run cross country; a sport of which could be considered a football player’s punishment. I play the piano, filling any room with harmonic tones. I extend my limits, open my mind to new things, and cherish the gifts I receive daily. People may not see me as special, but I do. The goals I conquer are for me and if I accomplish them, that is enough to make me feel like a champion. There may be 7 billion individuals walking on this earth, yet I have talents and abilities that contribute to the world in a different way than others do. I dream different dreams and see from a different perspective. I have my own unique fingerprint. I am me, I am not rich or famous, but I live happily with myself. I look in the mirror and smile contently; the girl looking back at me is a reflection I am proud to see.…
