When the song Titanium, by David Guetta and featuring Sia was first released in 2011, it was an anthem for strength. This song, for many, gave people the confidence to keep going even when people are being mean. We are taught in this song despite everything happening to us and around us being brave and not letting all the haters get to you and let you be the person you are. Titanium is something that you should live by and be as strong as Titanium. Being the strength and the glue around your friends can inspire them to be just as strong as you are. The line is “Stone hard, machine gun/ Firing at the ones who run”.There has been many different test to show that rhyming is a way to help the brain remember so they used the rhyming scheme to get the point acrossQQ. This line has many different literary devices in but the most noticeable one is a refrain which is somewhat like repetition. The phrase of three words is used in almost every stanza to get the point across. Titanium is the title of the song so it is understandable why it appears multiple times. The fourth example is “Shoot me down, but I don't fall” which is a hyperbole. The reason it …show more content…

The poem sets the tone at the second line with “I could feel the devil's handprints around my neck” indicating the tone would be dismal and satanic from the beginning. The theme is how fear can torment someone and feel as if someone is trapped in an inescapable, infinite loop of despair. I picked the tone and theme of this poem because Paul goes through many internal struggles within Tangerine. I personally have somewhat of a connection to the poem, when I was still in elementary school I was hurt by my two older brothers by playing games such as “red dots”. I felt like I would be tortured to no end especially when my parents failed to help me.…

This song acknowledges young people, such as women, that they are still powerful no matter what they have gone through. A message would relate to not allowing a man to change who you are. One being themselves is the best they can be. Young minds will see that women are not sticks, or flowers like Wollstonecraft stated, that you can easily break; Women are strong as steel, something that is difficult to break and bend. Just with one person being out of their lives does not completely break us down.…

Identity, the one thing that we all have in common, Identity feeds on peers influences & recklessness, one's identity is shaped by the negligence of others & can leave you shattered & torn. ‘Scar’ by Missy Higgins demonstrates identity throughout the song, the lyrics are influential upon my understanding because they insight a message, she wants the listener to feel her pain to take grasp of the reality that is sadly more apparent than one might think.…

We are a generation raised on pop culture and diversity: we are not afraid to change therefor our opinions and actions differ from those born before us. The narrorator in the song "bruno is an orange" has the stress of an overbearing mother and judgemental society which is something our generation is forced to constantly deal with. This song has a sense of nessesity that ebbs from the words; her lover makers her whole, being with him is a cathartic exerience but no one will look past the veil that has unconsiously blinded them. We face this daily, we are either to young to understand or are judged for what we believe. We face constant paranoia hoping our decisions meet everyones specks but it rarely does. This song does not just represent my…

“It is easy in the world to live after the world’s opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after your own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keep with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude.” (Pg. 23) The worlds opinion is strong but The Anthem is Good Charlotte’s way of saying I will stay independent, even though you’ve told me what to do. Repetition is a way of conforming. When you do the same thing day in and day out you aren’t thinking of the future, you’re trying to stay where you are. When he went to go visit his grandmother and the moustache made her think of the past and all her regrets. In the text it states “I still say a seventeen-year-old has no business wearing a moustache...but I also had learned to like it.” (Cormier 1). This piece of evidence relates to my theme because at first, Mike was just growing a moustache as an experience to see if he can grow one and he successfully did. He liked how it looked on him so he wanted to keep it. Even thought he liked it, his mother and many other people didn’t and it started to affect him. Relating to this, the song “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” by Poison explains that every beautiful thing has a dark side but not everyone might notice it. In the text it says “Every rose has its thorn/Just like every night has its dawn/Just like every cowboy sings his sad, sad song/Every rose has its thorn” (Poison 10-13). The chorus of this song relates to my theme because the artist’s voice was power and had a lot of persuasion which made me think that what the lyrics actually mean when they are put together. This meant that when you first seem something you think it very pretty but then you notice the one bad part of it or you notice the one…
