Mcmurphy breaking the picture window was a turning point in the story. The picture window was a prized possession of Nurse Ratched. It was the difference between her and the patients. She was on one side of the window while the patients were on the more unfortunate side. In a therapy session, R.P breaks the window, in the movie and in the novel, to get cigarettes. The glass breaking wasn't only a turning point in the story, but also for Mcmurphy. McMurphy became a larger than life character to the patients.…
In the movie Django Unchained there are moments in which still occur in modern times unfortunately. It’s about a slave named Django who partners up with a German bounty hunter, as the story goes on African American slaves were tortured, killed, and in my eyes treated like they weren’t even humans. I believe in modern society some things like this happen still. For instance, I support our police department no doubt, but just in this year we have had some bad cops kill African American people. In my eyes, some of them were still committing minor crimes and the police took it to far by abusing and sometimes killing the suspect. Taking their authority and force to far, but i’m not stating all Police officers are bad because they aren’t. It relates…
1.I believe what makes this film so great is the plot of the film combined with the actors ability to give life to the story. Gary Cooper who plays Kane in the film, is an upstanding and ethically good man. Since he demonstrates these characteristics in the film, he makes a believable Marshall. Another reason why this film is so great, is because of the hero premise. I believe this causes the "unsung hero" to resonate with the audience's feelings. This is shown at the very end of the film after the Marshall had confronted the criminals. Even though Kane had stopped Miller, no one in the town cheers or celebrates. They kinda of just accept it as it is and just move on without giving their thanks to the Marshall.…
The film opens with a close up shot of Alex dressed in white with gray suspenders showcasing his false eyelashes on his right eye and with the brim of his pork pie hat tilted slightly downward. His ominous blue eyes peering right through you as if you did not even exist. Slowly the camera pulls back as Alex takes a sip of drug laced milk revealing the type of company he keeps. His “droogs” as Alex called them were seated next to him on a bench in the Korova Milk Bar. The Korova Milk Bar was decorated with nude figures of women posed as if they had fallen backwards and they attempted to catch themselves by putting their arms behind them. The flats of their stomachs doubled as a table where glasses of milk could be placed. Other nude statues…

One can argue that the Civil Rights Movement during the mid-20th century was one of the defining times in our country’s short history. Yes, our national Independence is the root of our history and freedom and is the beginning of our amazing country, but the Civil Rights movement was a major stepping-stone to what we, as a country and people, have become and believe in today.…
A dystopia is a world gone wrong, in Chicago it is wrong in many ways. Being dehumanized by your factions, being injected with different serums and mind controlling tracking devices. In the movie Divergent, there are multiple examples of why and how a dystopia is a world gone wrong.…
Good Will Hunting is a movie with an all-star cast including Matt Damon, Robin Williams, and Ben Affleck just to name a few. Matt Demon plays the main character Will Hunting while Robin Williams and Ben Affleck play supporting roles as a psychology professor and best friend. The movie introduces Will as a janitor at MIT that is much smarter than he lets on. In fact, Will Hunting is a mathematical genius. Stellan Skarsgard plays a professor at MIT named Gerald Lambeau. Professor Lambeau decided to put an unsolved equation outside his classroom for his students to try and figure out but it was Will who solved it in just a few short minutes. For obvious reasons, this caught Professor Lambeau’s eye.…
I choose Forrest Gump as a historical movie. The movie was about a young man with a mental disability that goes through this major event in the 1960 – 1970s not only that but it was kind of romantic. Though out the entire movie, Forrest seems to be going along with the time line in his life looking for his first true love Jenny. Mean while she is living it out as a hippie tagging along with the wrong crowd and as for Forrest he maintains hope that one day she will love him. Not only that but the events that he lived in leads him to become a war hero and a billionaire. In the end he realize that life keeps on going as a “destiny or floating alike a breeze”.…
The piece as a whole, serves to be remarkably influential and impressionable. Philbert discusses and elaborates his opinion on ending a life to end suffering all while simply sharing a story. George’s death leaves the audience either questioning judgments or ensuring their opinions on the ethics of euthanasia. In the end, “George had left” and though Philbert did not agree with the decision he was forced to make, he came to realize the “good dogs…
Twelve angry men is a 1957 American Film that originated from a play of Reginald Rose and has been directed to a film by Sidney Lumet. The movie is not just about the outcome of the trial of a Puerto Rican youth who has been accused of murdering his father, but also shows how the beliefs and attitudes of the twelve jurors lead to his acquittal. Aside from that, this movie also shows Leadership traits that can help every individual on developing their leadership capabilities. The story started when the twelve jurors were put together in a sweltering deliberation room somewhere in America where they have been asked for their verdicts whether to put the child on chair or not. Eleven of them unanimously voted that the youth is guilty and must be…
A movie like Fences only comes once in a great while. It is sort of an unconventional movie, unlike most. It is filmed almost as though it is a play, which is exactly how this film got its origins. Written by August Wilson in 1985, Fences started off as a Broadway play that ended up winning the Pulitzer Prize for Best Drama in 1987. This drama focuses on exploring the African-American experience and looks deep into the heart of race relations.…
