Tom Petty's 'Into The Great Wide Open': Song Analysis
Imagine just standing on top of the world all of a sudden you fall off. Eddy was a 18 year old music star which had only one song that was a hit. Eddy thought the sky was the limit so he moved to Hollywood and met a girl with a tattoo. When he met this girl he decided to get a tattoo as well Tom Petty’s song , “Into The Great Wide Open” tells about a one hit wonder, a good/not so good part of his life and in a unrealistic fashion. Tom Petty’s song, “into the great wide open” was about a guy that wanted to be a rock star. Eddie at the age of 18 moved to Hollywood, California where he had met a girl with a tattoo so he got one as well. He got a job as a bouncer at a nightclub so he could live with the girl and to learn to play the guitar. He

Eddie was very optimistic about life, from moving to Hollywood too being a rockstar. He had become a very independent all on his own because he moved in together with a girl. In the end he was was very discouraged by the fact he was a one hit wonder. His A and R man said that he didn’t hear a single after his first record. Right after he started to party with movie stars so he was back to square one right where he started. Finally, Eddies rise to fame in his story is far fetched. Eddies rise to fame was happening too fast. He had just wrote his first song and it was going up the charts though he was also partying with movie stars. He also had just moved in with a girl. It was happening all too fast.

But later after all these year people found out that he had many affairs with women and sexaul harrasment.
