Dear Journal, we camped outside of the green river for a while. Then we went up to ferry boat it took us $16 to get across it, which I thought was ridiculous. We saw some Shoshone Indians rounding up another train’s cattle. I feared them at the beginning but now I see that they don't mean any harm. I was really excited for the Soda Springs. These last few weeks have been interestingly which is saying something seeing as I stare at the same trail every day. I've caught Dale several times exerting himself on useless tasks. He keeps picking the churn up with both hands, taking it to his chest and setting it down. When I asked him why he was wasting his energy on something so useless, his face turned red and he looked back at the Susan girl. He later explained that he was trying to gain muscle to impress her. I'm still a little confused myself as to why he wouldn't just work and gain muscle the way everyone else has. Caroline has become more a friend to me than a daughter. We often talk about what life will be like once we reach Oregon. She seems excited to get back into school and find friends that aren't her dad. My wife keeps quiet still, and most the time she's taking care of the the baby or cooking. I am going to get some rest, it's been a hard few months and we still have more to
