Culture gives everyone an identity because of the social groups we live in. We acquire knowledge, beliefs and behaviours all from our ancestors beliefs that have been gathered and altered generation after generation. We as humans are the only living creatures of earth that belong to various cultures. The many cultures that we have today didn’t just pop out of nowhere, slowly over time people separated and created their own way of living. Toula’s overbearing family, live the way they do because they grew up with the knowledge of only marrying Greek men and not someone with a different background. In spite of humans creating their own culture that also gives them the opportunity to alter the way they live as well.
