Tourism in Cambodia
After more than a decade of spectacular growth, Tourism has played an important role in the development of Cambodia. It has brought employment, improvements in infrastructure, training and general education and living standards for many people, and raised the international profile of Cambodia. Its growth has helped diversify economic activity, and broaden the base of foreign earnings.

Tourism statistics of Cambodia
In recent years, the question of how to increase the yield from each tourist; how to encourage them to stay longer; how to add more value? With visitor numbers expected to fall, this has assumed a greater priority, and now is trying to keep the numbers up.

From Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism, Statistics and ICT Department reported earlier this week, the first statistics shows, that international arrivals for the first quarter of 2010 year grew 13.9% from 683,692 to 778,467 trips. Although the Tourism Receipts in years were various, the indicator of tourism receipts from 347million US$ in 2003 dramatically increased around quintupling as much receipts as 2003 that those 1,595million US$ receipts were earned in 5 years later. In addition, the top market arrivals to Cambodia from January to march in 2010 is Vietnam represented 28.04% climb from 72,324 in 2009 to 92,605 in 2010. And out of 778,467 visits recorded, 735,132 were categorized under leisure travel, 35, 605 businesses and the balance 7,730 for other travel purposes.
