Parking and Traffic Problems During Shift Changes

Introduction
As a medium sized manufacturing firm in the Kitchener-Waterloo region, there has been significant growth in the past few years. In alleviate potential problems caused by this growth, YQZ Manufacturing Inc. decided to create a third manufacturing line for the three shifts that are in everyday operation. This decision has caused the number of employees to increase at a significant rate in the past few months in addition to a large space taken up by the plant expansion. As a consequence of a significant increase in employees, there has also been an increase in the amount of traffic congestion and parking issues around the manufacturing firm, especially during the time period of the shift change.
This memo will aim to further discuss the traffic and parking problems affecting the area and the effects that it poses on the operations at YQZ Manufacturing Inc. In addition, potential solutions and actions that can be implemented to correct this problem will also be discussed.
Facts and Findings
There have been numerous problems around the surrounding property since the decision to expand our manufacturing firm. One of the core problems is due to the significant increase in employees. Due to the addition of the third manufacturing line, seventy new individuals were added to the company, increasing from our previous one hundred and eighty individuals to our current number of two hundred and fifty individuals.
With this significant increase, our parking lot does not have the necessary space to accommodate the period between the shift changes. As the parking lot only has one hundred parking spaces, it is not possible to accommodate the one hundred and fifty people entering and leaving the area at that time.
