1. Why is the movie entitled "Transcendence"?
Transcendence meaning climbing or going beyond limitations .When Depp’s character, Will, got shot and almost killed but then survived. A few weeks later he got seriously ill and has only a month to live. His adoring wife Evelyn, decided to upload his consciousness into a super computer with the help of their friend Maxx. Doing this means going beyond the limits, although we know that some of us has the ability to build a computer with same like capacity of the human brain but uploading someone’s consciousness on a computer is really out of the box or have gone beyond our limitations. This is why the movie is entitled “Transcendence”.

The AI or Will’s consciousness uploaded in the super computer treats living things diseases by regenerating new cells. Also near the ending of the movie Will shows up, but as we know he died already. It’s because he cloned his self.

I like your connection between the movie Wall-E and transcendentalism. Now thinking about it, Disney has created a lot of movies that get to do with Transcendentalism. For example, another movie from Disney that supports the view of transcendentalism is Avatar. In this movie, nature energy flows through all living thing which link with the transcendentalist belief that nature is a source of instruction, nourishment, and enchantment for the soul. Emerson’s quote “The happiest man is the one who learns from nature the lesson of worship. In Avatar, the Omaticaya can communicate with their god through the Tree of voices.…

Transcendent Man is a 2009 documentary film by American filmmaker Barry Ptolemy about inventor, futurist and author Ray Kurzweil and his predictions about the future of technology in his 2005 book, The Singularity is Near. In the film, Ptolemy follows Kurzweil around the world as he discusses his thoughts on the Technological Singularity, a proposed advancement that will occur sometime in the 21st century when progress in genetics, nanotechnology, and robotics will result in the creation of a human-machine civilization. The Technological Singularity, or simply the singularity, is a theoretical moment in time when artificial intelligence will have progressed to the point of a greater-than-human intelligence that will "radically change human civilization, and perhaps even human nature itself " .…

Or create your own theory( could be a hybrid of the three or something that goes in a complete differnt direction). If you create your own theory, youwill still need to reference scholary work( the textbook or outside research) to support your claim. in the book by Noel Carroll" the philosophy of Horror" Illusion theory states we are horrified by the manifestation of being in the presence of a monster. the pretend theory states that if we are aware that the monsters are not real then how can we form a genuine emotion of fear.the thought theory states that if thought the monster was real it could create a sense of fear, thought is used here as a term of art that is meant to contrast to belief.the theory i think best answer the question why people enjoy scary movies would be the thought theory.the thoght therory reflects the way i veiw scary movies,it the possiblity that the monster on the film could actually exist at the moment and time that i am actually watching the movie,it creates fear for the remaning of the movie.to be able to entertain scary thoughts brings the horror films to life.in the movie "The Exorcist" th possibilies that the devil can actually possess a child,is frieghting to watch on…

Pay It Forward is an inspiring movie about a boy who creates a movement from Nevada to California. This movement called “Pay it forward” started just from a 7th grade social studies class. It all starts with yourself, you do something nice or help 3 people in a major way and then they carry it on to 3 other people each. The numbers will grow so immense that the movement is able to stretch into different states in all different kinds of areas. This movement is an example of transcendentalism. Trevor, the boy shows transcendentalist traits by being independent and creating his own ideas. The people following the movement carry out transcendentalism by making a change in the world and trying to speak out with actions.…

The movie took a rather pseudo-scientific / spiritual approach to explain its creator's viewpoint of human though and emotion by bombarding the viewer with quantum physics, psychology, molecular biology, physicians, spiritual teachers, etc. It wasn't until about half way into the film, that their vision started to become clear. Ultimately, their point is that it is possible, and perfectly acceptable, to create your own reality in any way you want by using positive thinking, or by using self-affirmation.…

Transcendentalism, an opposition to the cycle of life, an experience of endless discovery, a voyage of emotion, a triumphant battle to discover yourself, your purpose, and your reality. What if the way we lived was just a vicious cycle, what if we haven't yet lived in the moment, in reality, in a true experience? These ideas build upon a transcendentalist, Henry David Thoreau, in which he hated the way the modern world lived, as he believed it was stuck in an everlasting rhythm, too distracted to see clearly, but this was in the late 19th century. How would Thoreau reflect upon our society? We may reflect transcendentalism on our long walks, or even our vacations, but what else do we all reflect as a planet? An explanation can be given through…
