Anne frank matures a lot throughout the play. She goes from being whiny and spoiled, to being more patient and thoughtful. She also gets past the phase of being annoyed with boys, like Peter, and finds out how amazing they are. peter says, “You know you've changed. I used to think you were a real pain in the neck.(58)” In the beginning of the play, Anne was very annoying to Peter, but at the end of the play they both like each other and Peter cares for Anne. Anne also realizes that she has changed by saying “My life before seems so unreal. I see myself then as an utterly superficial girl, that has nothing to do with who I am now. I wouldn't go back to being her for the world.(58)”

Anne decided to become a journalist instead of what she wanted to become in the beginning of the Play. In the beginning, of the play she wanted to become a famous singer or dancer. She says, “I’m going to be a famous writer or singer or dancer one day!(26)” She later choices to become a journalist because of her experience hiding in the secret annex and facing the possibility of death being a Jew during the Holocaust and facing the fear of getting caught.
