Transmile
Top executives of Transmile Group Bhd may have been aware of the overstatement of the group's sales figures when the unaudited annual accounts for financial year ended Dec 31, 2006 (FY06) were released to Bursa
Malaysia on Feb 15, sources say.

Transmile's external auditor Messrs Deloitte & Touche is said to have alerted the management, namely chief executive officer Gan Boon Aun, chief financial officer Lo Chok Ping and the audit committee on the inaccuracy of the substantially high revenue of RM989.2mil for FY06.

However, it is believed the matter was not taken to the board level.

Chairman of the audit committee Chin Keem Feung is also an independent director. The committee members are Shukri Sheikh Abdul Tawab and Khiudin
Mohd Mohd.

Gan and Lo are currently on leave. An executive committee has taken over the group's daily operations.

Chem Quest Sdn Bhd director Ong Teng Ping has been seconded as acting-chief financial officer of the chartered freight service provider.

Transmile announced on Wednesday that interim findings of a special audit showed the group's sales revenue might have been overstated by RM333mil in
FY06, and RM197mil in FY05.

Transmile's filed unaudited FY06 results showed the group's revenue jumped
80% to RM989.2mil from RM550mil a year earlier. Net profit more than doubled to RM157.5mil against RM74.8mil in FY05. Its trade receivables swelled to
RM381mil from RM111mil.

Transmile and Deloitte could not be reached for comment.

However, in a statement, Deloitte said it had had regular discussions with
Transmile's management and audit committee to address certain transactions that could not be verified when they were first discovered.

It said the sharp increase in trade receivables prompted it to perform extended auditing procedures.

"Up to end-April, the matter could not be resolved to our satisfaction and we could not sign off an unqualified opinion on the accounts.

"Hence, the letter to the

The function of DNA in the living world is at once strangely complex and surprisingly simple. The genetic code carried in molecules of DNA is responsible for a spectacular variety of life forms. Plant life in the Amazon, creatures on the ocean floor, and animals in the Serengeti have all arisen, and survive and thrive in their respective environments, because of the function of DNA.…

The Circumplex Model of Marriage and Family Therapy has been used for decades throughout the world to help repair and maintain healthy relationships in a family setting. The model is specifically designed for clinical assessment, treatment planning and outcome effectiveness of marital and family therapy (Olson, 1993 & 1996). It is compiled of different dimensions in a relationship that show where problems arise more commonly and how they can be fixed. Those three dimensions are: family cohesion flexibility and communication. Without the three of these dimensions, there is no relationship. “The Circumplex Model of Marital & Family System identifies 16 types of couple and family relationships.” ("Circumplex Model: Couple And Family Map", 2012).…

The Münch pressure-flow model is an explanation for the movement of organic materials in phloem .By the Münch pressure-flow experiment, two dialysis tubings are connected by a glass tube. The dialysis tubings only permeable to water or particles which have smaller size than the pores of the tubing, but impermeable to the larger solutes. As larger molecules such as proteins and polysaccharides(starch) that have dimensions significantly greater than the pore diameter of the dialysis tubing can pass through the tubings and they are retained inside the tubings.Smaller molecules such as water molecules and iodide ions are small enough to pass through the pores.…

Plants synthesize food materials by photosynthesis and store the same in the form of starch grains in the chloroplasts found in mesophyll cells. Then the found material is converted into simple sugars; then it is transported to regions where it is required – stem apex, young flower buds fruits and storage organs are the sites to which the organic food is translocated. The site of synthesis and the site of need are separated by time and space. The structures found between these sites play a significant role in translocation.…

THERMAL EQUILIBRIUM & THE ZEROTH LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS Thermal Equilibrium If you want to know the temperature of a cup of hot coffee, you stick a thermometer in the coffee. As the two interact, the thermometer becomes hotter and the coffee cools off a little. After the thermometer settles down to a steady value, you read the temperature. The system has reached an equilibrium condition; further interaction between the thermometer and the coffee cause no more changes. This is a state of thermal equilibrium. If the systems are separated by an insulator, such as wood, plastic or fiber glass, they influence each other more slowly. An ideal insulator is a material that permits no interactions at all between the two systems. It prevents the systems from attaining thermal equilibrium if the systems are not in thermal equilibrium at the start. That’s why ice is packed in insulating materials so that the insulation delays the process of achieving thermal equilibrium with the surrounding. Zeroth law of thermodynamics If system A is in thermal equilibrium with system C, and system B is in thermal equilibrium with System C, then System A and System B must be in thermal equilibrium. Important implication:…

The transferee takes the land subject to any registered lease, charge, easement or tenancies protected by indorsement already existing in respect of the land at the time the transfer was registered. For instance, in Standard Chartered Bank v Central Wood Tiles SDN BHD it was held that where there was a transfer subject to charge, the charge did not become a 3rd party charge. The transferee had stopped into the shoes of the transferor and is bound by the same charge.…
