I turn to see the rattling door seal itself. It remains locked tight, allowing no one to pass through; it has trapped me in, and forbids me to walk out. Fear paralyzes my entire body, and I am unable to think. Overwhelming thoughts fill my mind, “What if I can never get out? What if I die here?” Adrenaline rushes through my body. Slowly I begin to think again. The horror of being trapped, here, alone is the only thing my disoriented mind can process.
I bang on the locked door with all my strength, hoping and praying someone will pass by and hear me. A noise rumbles from beneath the stairs, vibrating the entire building.
