I remember when I was younger I saw a car accident happen right in front of me. There was a lot of chaos happening with the paramedics rushing to see what happened. At that moment there was so much adrenaline going through everyone's bodies and I knew right then and there that I wanted to be in the medical field. Even though it’s going to take several years the end result will be worth it. I want to pursue a career in the medical field at the extraordinary Jefferson College of Health Sciences with the goal of becoming a Trauma Surgeon and ultimately saving people's lives who have been in traumatic accidents.

I am trying to pursue getting a Medical Degree because it will help me achieve becoming a Trauma Surgeon. I will possibly pursue my career at Jefferson College of Health Sciences in Roanoke,VA. One of the programs that I will be entering is the Biomedical Sciences program. According to their website, the biomedical sciences degree prepares you for future success in medicine, dentistry, and other health care careers. Several people that graduated from JCHS get a job right away.
Being an ESFJ(Extraversion, Sensing, Feeling, Judgement) means that I am responsible, loyal, and social.
Having all of those qualities help me with the career I want. Being a Trauma surgeon is a huge responsibility since you have another persons life in your hands. 16personalities.com says that “ good listeners and enthusiastic team members, people with ESFJ personality type are excellent providers of medical care and social work. My ideal place to work would be in a big hospital in the city. Working in the city would mean that I would get to see a variety of patients coming in. Yes, I may be on call all the time but that’s the great part about it:Especially when you are first starting your career you want to see everything you can possibly think of. On a daily basis, I will be operating on the pancreas, stomach, colon, etc. Surgeons have to be very precise when operating on the pancreas since it is a major part of your body. Study.com says that “the job environment is high- stress and unpredictable” which means you have to be prepared for anything and everything. At the beginning there may be times where people want to quit because of all the stress but after a while they start getting use to the tension.
According to Virginiacareerview.org in Virginia, you can make $99,720 a year and the entry level is $111,420.
The salary all depends on where you are located. For example if you are in northern Virginia, you would be making a lot more since it's in the city. Me becoming a trauma surgeon would be beneficial to hospitals and people who have been in traumatic accidents. Hospitals would gain another team member by me becoming a trauma surgeon. It would be of great help and since I am bilingual, I would be able to help translate to those who only speak Spanish. Being able to speak two different languages would help me be at the top of the list to get hired at a hospital since I have another characteristic that other might not
have.
Having children while being a trauma surgeon might not be easy. Being on call 24/7 doesn’t give you a lot of time to spend with them. Even though you will have your husband there to support you, it won't be the same as you physically being there with them. Surgeon can have a life out of the hospital and kids but you never know when you are going to get called in. Most surgeons have their own practice because they can manage their hours there.
In conclusion, I want to pursue a career in the medical field at the extraordinary Jefferson College of Health Sciences with the goal of becoming a trauma surgeon and ultimately saving peoples lives who have been in traumatic accidents. Achieving this will be one of my greatest accomplishments. It may not be easy, which that is what everyone looks for after high school but I’m up for the challenge. I have learned a lot of information that I didn't know before. For example trauma surgeons can be flexible at times. It all depends on where they are located since a lot more incidents happen in the city rather than in the country.
