Hard working, strives for excellence, handsome, kind, caring, responsible, these traits and characteristics I, Trevor Wiedeman, have been told I display. I was conceived in Garden Grove, California in the heart of Orange County. My mother lived there, and she met my father who was stationed at a Military base nearby. My parents had the definition of “young love” Mom (eighteen at the time) and Dad (Twenty). They got married shortly after I was born, then they decided to relocate to Houston where my dad was originally from. My father being an entrepreneur he always had a new “get rich quick scheme”. Although they never did work out as he planned it did give me a true passion in Business and Economics. My parents divorced and re married and after 18 years they cut ties with one another completely. Regardless of how much they did not get along with each other they gave me …show more content…
a great foundation to take on the “real world”. Now, I was eighteen and attending the University of Texas A&M majoring in Finance. Their abrupt split made me rethink if this was the right place for me, I had already racked up five thousand dollars in student loans, and it was only the first year! I decided I could not go four years like this, so I moved back to Houston lived with my grandmother for about 3 months. This giving me a chance to get a job at a restaurant and eventually an apartment shortly after. Mom and Dad were no longer financially involved in my life at all, so it was time for me to grow up and fast! Using the values they instilled in me, I started working and paying for school. Keeping my passion for Finance.
During my childhood I did chores to earn an allowance of $5 a week, my father would give me the option to invest the money earned that week at a simple interest rate of 40% per week, making it $7 at the end of the week.
This quirky thing he did actually gave me my love for investments. Now my goal is to become a Stockbroker. Specifically I want to sell Securities, Commodities, Options and maybe Life Insurance. Now to do these things you need specific certificates to be licensed. The Series 6 allows you to sell Mutual Funds, and Variable Annuities; the Series 7 allows you to sell a much wider variety of investments, you can sell securities, stocks, and bonds the only thing you cannot sell is Commodities and Life Insurance. That is why I want to receive a Series 3 certification as well which allows you to sell Commodities, Futures, Options and Hedging. These certificates will take time to earn but I hope to move up within a company where they offer to pay for the studying and taking of these exams. This field requires a certain personality and character
type.
My Type Focus personality exam results displayed that “Sales Agents, Securities and Commodities” was a perfect match. I did not anticipate that the results would pinpoint exactly the profession I wanted to pursue in my life after college. The Type Focus results showed I am personality type “ESTP”. The “P” means perceiving and the other option is judging. The test describes judging as – emphasis on making decisions and perceiving as- people who tend to postpone decisions for the love of being spontaneous. This surprised me, I do love being spontaneous in relationships with friends and family, but thought of myself as more of the decision making type. This new insight might make me more mindful when making decisions toward my career goals. This exam was very beneficial in reassuring myself, that I have the correct career goals.
