Trigger warnings are helpful because it is beneficial for students and help create a better learning environment. Alyssa Leader supports this with her own personal experience and anecdotal evidence. Also for the students it is a sign of respect, students appreciate the advance notice, and are accommodating. Elana Newman supports this from the students she has had in class. Students would already know that they can deeply express their feelings or sensation. This allows students to prepare themselves for reading, hearing, or watching about them.
For the most part, trigger warnings are beneficial to those who have had painful experiences. Trigger warnings should be done out of respect for those who have gone through the situation. It acknowledges the invisible survivor and if something is helpful in some cases and never harmful, then it is better to do it than not to do it.
