When I was younger I loved dolls; I loved playing pretend with them, dressing them up, and pretending that they were real. For my younger self to hear of a doll that not only could talk but could move her eyes on mouth on her own was mind blowing. I saw a lot of cheery commercials on television for a doll called Amazing Amanda. It was so cool; the doll even had the same name as me! When I ripped through the colorful Barbie wrapping paper Christmas day and saw that it was the Amazing Amanda doll I jumped around like a grasshopper and raced to go find batteries. I played with that doll everyday, singing songs with her loudly which probably sounded more like off-key screeching. It was incredible to me to watch her glassy, blue eyes blink and…

On top of my dresser sits a cardboard box. It’s wasn’t until recently that I looked through this box. The items in this box are mementos from my childhood or other things that have been given to me that I’ve kept. The first thing that catches my attention is a Winnie the Pooh doll. I remember being attached to this toy because it provided me with comfort whenever I needed it and had some intangible quality that couldn’t be replicated to any other toy because of the emotional attachment I had to it.…

When our class visited Joan and Robert Rechnitz Hall I felt as if this would be a hard assignment because I felt as if none of the artwork would catch my attention, seeing as I’ve never had an interest in artwork while growing up. This visit was really eye opening because not only did I enjoy the time we spent there, surprisingly I was actually interested in some of the work that was being displayed at that time.…

We were so happy, I started explaining to her where we were, how the place looked like and that there was a big garbage can, as I explain tears dripped from my eyes. We hugged each other, cried, and stayed put right next to the garbage can. We finally saw my mother’s silver BMW car. We slowly walked towards the car, making sure that it was my mother or one of our parents are in there. I then saw my mother did something with her hand, I know what that meant to hurry up, I told my little cousins to hurry up and get in the car, we ran as fast as we could towards the car and got in. Since then my little cousins and I learned a very big and important lesson that we will never forget, it to your pacings with your family, close and to tell them that you need a break if you are losing your…

Here I am sitting on the plane to London for the third time. I know, three is an awful lot of times considering how expensive tickets are nowadays. It’s just I haven’t been able to decide whether or not I am ready to leave everything behind. Everything , as in my cute apartment, my adorable cat, and best of all my friends, the same friends who met me the first day of kindergarten; The same friends who helped me through thick and thin, from tying my shoes to making new friends, to applying to colleges, and so much more, I can’t even tell you all the things they’ve done for me because there are so many I can not list them all. When I think of them it makes it harder to leave, but it’s time that I go. My dream, ever since I was little, was to be the best singer there ever was. Growing up, I used to write my own songs. That was when my mom was alive. She loved to hear me sing. She loved the music, and lyrics I wrote. I went to college for music, got my Bachelors of Music’s Degree, I learned about theory, aural skills, piano skills, acting and received private lessons. During the sophomore year of college I was introduced to a producer, from there things vaulted upward. I started singing at places in Boston, Toronto, Montreal and places all over the United States, I had sung everywhere, but I had never left the country. The first time I was supposed to leave was to sing for the soccer game in France. To sing their National anthem, but that year my mother had died. I never got on the plane. The second time I was recruited to sing was a couple of months later. At that time one of my close childhood friends was getting married there was no way I was missing that. Now finally, I’ve decided to go to London, this time I’m not going to miss an opportunity. This time I’m prepared, ready for anything that heads my way. I’m looking forward to this trip to London, there’s no turning back. The only thing I’m taking with me are my memories. The…

The toy I love the most is my Barbie doll. My father gifted me a Barbie when I was four years old, for my birthday. Oh! What a lovely gift and I had a lovely birthday party too. Since then I stopped sleeping with my parents. I and my doll slept in my room. Until then I was scared to sleep alone. Now I have a friend. The only time I leave her is when I go to school. My Barbie has five dresses – a party wear, a night suit, a summer wear, a woolen winter wear and a business suit. I can also do my Barbie’s hair. There are many colorful clips for my Barbie. Her hair is long. There is a special smoothening comb. When I comb it doesn’t pain for her. All the dresses have matching shoes too. I like her party shoes as it looks like glass and it is similar to that of Cinderella. All my friends like my Barbie. She is very delicate. When I put her on my bed she closes her eyes. When I pick her up she opens it. So we both sleep together and wake up together. I love my doll. I promised her that we will be the best friends forever (BFF).…

It was my birthday. I was presented many colourful and expensive gifts. But my best friend did not give me a gift like that. She gave me a small blue box and said that: “This is my special gift for you. I hope you will like it.” I was very curious about what was in the box. I opened it. It was a scarf! But it was not colourful, it was blue and white which were my favourite colours. It was not a normal scarf which was bought from the shop but it was made by my friend. She bought many balls of wool and learned how to knit. She tried her best to make a special gift for me. I knew that she had had much ado and time to finish kniting the scarf . Although it was not beautiful, I was happy and promise her treasure it. However, it was also the last gift from my best friend. Two months later, she had to move to another country with her family. I was very upset when I knew that.…
